Off Roading with 2.5TS
#3
Depends on your definition of off roading. Basically the dealer can refuse warranty work if they clearly see that your off road adventure caused the problem.
I've used my 2.5TS on some mildy rough roads and some VERY snowy conditions. The car is simply too low for most off roading, although it will climb a steep gravel road quite well. The AWD in these cars is better than some light trucks w/4WD.
As for Snow... get different tires than the stock ones, they plain stink. Why they sell an AWD car that is great in the snow and then mess it up with bad tires I don't know.

off-road conditions?
u planning on gravel roads?
dirt roads?
combination of both along with uneven paths?
if you go off-road you generally want to go on a "beaten path".
subaru all wheel drives are meant to give you optimum handling in many terrains.
however if u plan on going on uneven roads keep in mind that the ts wagon height is not your ideal height for off-road. try the out back editions which do have a raised height.
if you are in for serious off road i recommend a truck not a subaru.(for warranty issues)
as long as your path is generally "grated" or somwhat even you should be fine.
the awd systems are more than capable.
growing up my dad used to take me up to this mountain in all his subarus(20 years ago...before they had full-time awd)

and here is a pic(thread in hawaii section) of one of the subarus that we used
