i like to change the pcv valve every other oil change. this helps a bit... but turbos can't be potty trained. they always leak a little bit of oil.

Wish I had seen this thread sooner - did an oil change last night after racking up 5000 miles and I only had like 2qt left in the engine Hope it didn’t damage anything? Funny because my car didn’t start eating up oil until recently!

Guess I have to start doing like many here and add a Qt every 1500 or 2000 miles.

Car Info: '04 WRX
My '04 WRX would eat oil when I ran any 30wt, such as Mobil 1 10w30 or Pennzoil Platinum 10w30. I'd use about 1 qt. every 5000 miles. I've recently switched to Mobil 1 0w40 and consumption is all but gone. 5w30 is recommended for optimal fuel mileage and not necessarily optimal performance or protection. In fact, Subaru factory fills it's engines with 10w50, dont' know if they do that in the U.S. though, they probably fill it with the thinner 30wt stuff just to get 1 or 2 better miles per gallon.
