Unhappy low oil level

Need some help!
2k miles after my last change oil I checked the level it was near the last hole on the dip stick. I swear i saw it full after my change oil. I checked it again after 2 days and still low, so i topped it off. I checked if there are leaks at my parking space but I don't have. Btw, I check my oil level in the mornings.

I was thinking maybe some of the oil where in the turbo or something and it didn't drain well?

Any ideas? should i be concerned?

Thanks.

hmm... i'd be a little concerned. no leaks.. so that's good. Some cars, like big fat V8s eat a lot of oil. weird.. it like disappears. WRX shouldn't though. if it's under warranty.. might wanna take it in.

alot of people complain about this. Some have figured that the dipstick sucks on these cars. I thought the same thing before. You can try to measure how much you when you change your oil. You can then compare how much you put in and take out as a baseline.

^^ Agreed^^ I learned that the second time that I changed my oil that their dipstick is way way off. Just keep topping it off until you feel good. Remember if you are doing any damage to the engine the "oil" light will illuminate. Just right after you change your oil and put the reccomended amount in then let it sit for a night and take out your baseline. Cheers

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you are concerned just take it to the dealer.

It's common for turbo charged cars to burn a little oil. Mine does not, but some folks report it happening.

Your doing the right thing by regularly checking the level. If it consumes more than a quart between normally scheduled oil changes I'd start to worry.

I had trhe exact sam thing happen to me. I took it to the dealer and they found a small "sweat" coming from my left valve cover. They replaced the gasket and told me to continue monitoring it. I believe the 04's have a new PCV design and the turbo will burn oil caused by blowback. Mine was below the low mark but still no oil light came on. As long as your not getting blue smoke out of the exhaust or from under the oil cap u should be ok. It is very worrisome though to check the dipstick and see it so low. I also heard that this blowback issue occurs more frequently on long highway trips which makes sense inmy case since two weeks ago i went on a 6 hr road trip. Two weeks before that I checked the oil and it was fine.

Most def on that 'sweating' of the valve covers.. also I find that the stock inlet pipe on the WRX sucks.. its prone to splitting right before the turbo itself.. and you get a whole ton of gunk/grease on the bottom side of it that you cant see unless you take it out.. la la la.. greattttttttt craftsmanship..

Do NOT trust the oil light to warn you of problems. First of all it is a low pressure warning and will not tell you when the oil level is low, even by a couple of quarts, as long as there is still sufficient oil pressure. Second, the switch is calibrated to close only when the oil pressure is below about 2 psi which is essentially nothing. Chances are, if you ever see the light come on while driving the damage has already been done.
This is why many people install oil pressure gauges, to get a more accurate idea of the oil pressure at all times.
