If I trade it in, I think the I may get hosed by Subaru. I just graduated from GT so I'm paying off some student loans too. It is an awesome car though. I see so many people talking about the EVO, but I trust Mitsu cars just about as far as I can throw them. The EVO in many aspects is a turbo eclipse that has been reinforced so the block doesn't blow up as often.

An awesome car comes along once or twice every moel year.
In 2004 it'll be the Supra and new Mustang.
In 2005 we'll hopefully see the Legancy STi.
In 2006 the Chrysler 300C and new Vette hits the streets.
But finding a good woman to spend and enjoy your life with, that happens much less often.
Some of us are never lucky enough to find that special person while others get furstrated or tired of searching and settle for less. [or an EVO ]
The girl is worth the cash and she'll appreciate in value over time.
An STi is an expense that'll only depreciate as the years & miles roll by. But don't be mistaken as both require continual maintenace $$$.
Congratulations and best of luck amigo!

Advice...
Never thought I'd see advice on relationships on a STi Forum...
My thoughts - work out the budget for both - Providing the ring comes first. You have the option of waiting for the STi to appear on the used car lots in a year or two... She will never forget if a car was chosen over her. (trust me on that one - I went shopping for Christmas gifts in 2001 and bought a WRX instead. Not exactly a fun Christmas that year.) (except for the driving

Please state your source and/or reason for believing so.
There are tons of folks at NASIOC like myself who were planning to lease. I'd like to cross-post your response to them so they know too.
BTW, didn't I see your '89 5.0 Mustang with red painted calipers at BJ's in Fair Oaks? You came to see WRX1's killer blue STi, yes?

Not that I have any fact behind Subaru not wanting to, but why would Subaru lease these cars when they are in such high demand? Forgive me for being blunt, and nothing personal to the lease seekers on this board, but leasing is typically for people that enjoy trying to live beyond their means or make "status statements" because of the car they drive. Before I get flamed, I know leasing has its benefits for business purposes and some individuals "needs", but the STi is not the type of car a dealer wants to be stuck with after a leasee has used and abused the hell out of it, just to say that they "owned" (rented is more like it) an STi.
Just as Subaru didn't intend the STi to be sold to the "highest bidder" (they priced it for a specific target market and individual), pardon my German (I no longer use French ), but I'm sure Subaru didn't intend the STi to become someone's next lease "*****". Besides, they can't possibly begin to yet predict what the value/residual of the STi will be once it does start hitting the used car market and hopefully to a much lesser extent, the scrap yards. That means that likely no leases, at least for the first year, or until the demand dies down, if ever.
Just MHO!

Lynnes Infinity-Nissan-Subaru, Bloomfield, NJ
initially they want $3k above MSRP.
I threaten to walk... over to EVO!
Deposit (this one is flexible) against MSRP in writing.
#5 on the list, black or silver
Slow economy out there, suspect not too many willing to plunk $31k on a souped up econo box.
Sit in the 2004 WRX. Clearly much better fit and finish than EVO. Paint does not look as thin as EVO.

Furthermore. I wanted the STi for a fun commuter, that I can dump if it doesn't meet the needs in 2 years. Leasing gives me that. In order to have a happy home and OWN the STi the Stang must vanish.
Janq...
Wasn't me. Mine is a 95 with Baer Claw brakes... Very unique Saleen Body, Bullitt Color and GT-R badging...

Meridoc,
Thanks for the follow up post...I was afraid SOA might not want to lease/rent the STi. Its too narrow/niche a vehicle and SOA is too small to get in the rental business on these and potentially end up with a pool f STi's they can't resell in the future (24-48) months.
Go to NASIOC and check out my posts & recent dealer info on leasing as found in; http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=364329
I'm going to cross post your info to those guys to keep them up to speed.

Thomas Dodge/Subaru.

They had me put down 1000.00 deposit on my STI and They are selling them for exactly MSRP.
Only catch is I could get it in June or 5 months later. They told me possibley one a month and there only getting 5.
So its mine i just have to wait.
When i went in to order it....I told them about this site and all the dealers that were willing to sell it for MSRP.
I think it helped
