Help! CEL P1507 - Idle control System Malfunction
I just got the CEL P1507 - Idle control System Malfunction on my 02 Impreza RS. Anyone know what could be causing that to come on and how to fix it? Is it something serious or minor? Thanks for any help!

This usually indicates a problem with the idle air controller (IAC). Often the solution is to remove the IAC and clean it with throttle body or carb cleaner.
If your car is still under the 3/36 warranty this should be covered, otherwise you can do it yourself or have a local shop do it.

yup, carb cleaner worked for a couple ppl i know....although when i had that code pulled and tried the carb cleaner I wasn't so lucky...I had to replace the whole idle air control sensor $$$$= , hope it works for you

took it in to the dealer under warranty as suggested. they replaced the idle air controller for free but that didn't solve the problem. when i took it back again they talked to the national service center and the solution, as crazy as it seems, was to replace the neutral shift positioner. worked like a charm.
