Does this look like a Fairtrade/Escrow.com scam on this STi to anyone?

This whole thing certainly is odd. Start reading from the bottom. It is important to note in the first mail how he says he is the first owner, yet, the Carfax report (as I state in one of my notes below) shows it as being sold to a second owner in colorado a few months ago. You will see his response to this in the last reply. Thoughts?

Hey,
I do have friends in Philly, but the problem is that the car is locked in the garage, and i'm the only one who have the keys.
One more thing, the escrow service is called squaretrade, but if you want we can use escrow.com, it's the same think for me, just let me know what you want to use and give me your details (name and address) needed for the transaction's registration.
I tried to sell the car sooner and a friend from CO wanted to buy it, we made the papers and he was not approved on the loan, and he wasn't able to pay it, but the car have 12,500 miles not 16k.
Let me know what you decide to do. It's up to you now.
Sincearly,
Paul Thomas

Well, I'm definitely interested. I've know people who have had bad
experiences with FairTrade before but I think we can get around using
that. There has to be some way to see the car awhile...like, do you
have any friends still around Philly that can show it to me? And if
you can get them the keys and title, I can actually just pay cash for
the car after I see it. We can go to my bank and deal with the
certified check with the teller so you'll know the check is good. In
researching the car a bit, I have one other question. Carfax shows it
as going from the first owner in Texas to a dealer in Colorado a few
months ago, and that the car was sold last week in Colorado to the
second owner, with 12,500 miles. You were the first owner, correct?
Did you bring the car from Colorado? I'm worried it might have 16,000
miles now if that is the case.
Thanks!

Car Info: A limousine with a chauffer
Certainly seems fishy. If he's asking you to send a 50% deposit before you even look at the car, something is up. If he does have friends in Philladelphia, offer to pay postage and he can mail the garage keys to his buddies so you and his friend can meet up to check out the car. He doesn't have to send the car key, just the garage key so you can at least look at it in person. If you like it and you want to buy it, absolutely insist that you do the deal in person, or via an escrow company that YOU pick.

But I don't think it's real. The car is listed way too low to be legit without REALLY good reason for listing it so low. The seller refuses to meet with you in person and won't work something out so you can meet with his local friends to check out the car. Then he says you have to send a %50 deposit without even seeing the car in person. Yeah.

Well, something I learned from reading this afternoon online...any seller who ever mentions SquareTrade is FRAUDULENT because ST does not even offer escrow services. So yeah, this is a 100% scam. Be on the lookout for it. I'm having Yahoo shut his account off.
