4) then waiting for the power to come back after the turn!
5) fit and finish is a little lacking for 24k, IMHO
Other than that I LOVE MY WRX!!!!!!!!

It uses a lot of gas too... but then again that's the price for going fast.

i have a few very minor gripes about my WRX. the thing rattles like no one's business. i drive it pretty damn hard, and have stiff suspension, which accounts for a lot of it.
the front cupholder design sucks.
the glove box isn't quite big enough.
the pedals aren't spaced very well for guys like me who have big feet, it makes heel toe shifting hard.
first gear can be a bit hard to get into, but remember to blip the throttle to match revs when going for first (or any other gear for that matter).

To "double" clutch (can be used upshifting and downshifting):
1) press in clutch
2) move gear selector to neutral
3) let out clutch
4) press in clutch again
5) put gear selector into the desired gear
6) let out clutch
Ideally, when downshifting, one should "blip" the throttle between steps 4 and 5 to match the revs on the downshift. This will make the transition even smoother. This step may not be necessary on an upshift, unless the engine revs drop too quickly before the next gear is engaged.
This is also a helpful tool when engaging reverse. Since the transmission doesn't have a "synchronized" reverse gear, taking this extra step (time) can preserve those "delicate" transmissions!

Oh, one more minor gripe. I can't believe that I forgot this, but the stock wheels and tires suck! Of course, that's nothing a little extra money can't fix (Volk TE-37's with Advan Neova's anyone?)

well, as of yesterday my daytime running lights have stopped working. I don't know if that's necessarily a bad thing, though...
as for the low-end crawling, I am starting to try downshifting into 1st gear for slow turns. It can be hard to get into unless you're already crawling, but I have found sliding into 2nd first, and then up to 1st, seems to line up the syncros without having to double clutch. It also makes it go in smoother from a stop; shift down, then up....

I have a coule gripes.
1. Bad gas mileage. I get about 200 miles to the tank on 93 oct
2. Shifting is horrible compared to my civic. Way too clunky.
3. Side mirrors ice up way too much. I don't know why but the ones on my civic didn't.
4. Seats aren't made for long drives in the 04.
5. Thin paint.
7.) Last and most important. It's way too much fun to drive!!! It's ruining my relationship with my girl cuz I'm always out driving it.

It's funny everyone complains about how bad the mileage. So far this car's mileage is about on par my old cars: BMW E30 5.28e and Toyota 4Runner SR5. Guess I'm used to thirsty cars yeah?

o yeah someone just reminded me...
The one thing I HATE about the wrx is the wide gearing between 1st and 2nd, I really with 1st was 3.08 instead of 3.4 something.
There's like this dead zone that's too high to shift into first, so you have to be in second, but there's no turbo power at that rpm...SO annoying when you are trying to speed up and change lanes in traffic...

I have been driving my little black rex for 20k miles and all i have to say is the brakes are sh!tty, wheels need to be wider, turbo lag is sad, shift throw is too long and it feels like you are stabbing a dead cat through the ribs (not that I know how that feels), understeer brings tears to my eyes, pedals are too close, there is nowhere to rest my left arm when cruising, cupholder is broken from Starbucks-overuse (may be a good thing), my back hurts after driving for too long, ankles hurt from the clutch, the speakers blew the day I got the car and I still haven't done anything about it, and the list can go on and on but I wouldn't trade it for the world...except for maybe an STI, an RS6, an M3 or M5, a helicopter, a jet.....and maybe if srt-4's came in AWD...hehe...jk
