dealing with the dealer
This is the story of my subaru and i would appreciate any good advice because I feel I need it just in case.
I first purchased my subaru from mitsubishi with 32000 miles on it.It came with several extrra gadgets like a boost control, downpipe, bov, turboback exhaust, and turbo timer. When i bought it i recieved an extended warranty from them and all was well at least for a day or two.
The second day that i owned it, it seemed to bog out all the time and waste gas while driving normal. Then the check engin light came on and i took it back to the dealer and they found out that the turbo was leaking alot of pressure and fixed it. At this piont i really loved the car and didnt want to think negative about the new car that Ive wanted for some time. All was good again but only for a little while after my first oil change at 35000 miles. When i was driving home all of the sudden i smelt and saw smoke comming from my engine bay and was scared so i pulled over and saw that my cv boot cracked so back itr went. Once again they fixed it after i paid a hundred dollar deductable. I was then begining to get annoyed at the fact that my new car was having more trouble than my old one. So i sucked it up and then started to drive it again after it got out of the shop and not more than 5000 miles after that i was turning onto the 215 and i shifted into second gear from about 5000rpms to get int othe flow of traffic but when i did this i heard a poping sound and it was as if i was in neutral but i was in second. I took it in again and they said it was internal and are checking it out. They said someone has to come in and check it out. My car came with all these parts and are all covered by the warranty but im scared they might void it somehow like calling it abuse or something.
Any way the car was obviosly abused before they sold it to me and i was wondering if they dont fix it how do i deal with these people so i dont get ripped?
Also is there anyway i could make them take it back because it is in such bad condition? Lemon law??
I do not drive my car hard at all but do occasionaly feel the boost however I dont slam gears and abuse it.
PLEASE HELP ME IM TRIPPING OUT!!!, Sincerly John

The first question is do you have everything they promissed you on paper, the warranty coverage, and maybe some details of the car as far as mods. If they don't cover there wouldn't really be a way they could prove abuse since you installed no mods on it. If they deny then the next step is probably to call Better Business Berau, and if that doesn't help then probably small claims court.

Yeah, if they sold you an extended warranty and the car already had all those mods on it, then they have an obligation to honor the warranty...if you got it all in writing.

When I was givin the warranty I asked the guy who gave it to me a hundred times about the extra parts and he said if it came with the car then its all covered. I do have all they promised me on the warranty paper. I am just really scared cause of all the peoples warranties getting voided with the tranny issues. I do admit it was abused but not at my hands so does this mean they can still call it abuse or what?
Any more advice would be greatly appreciated.

let me give you some help-
1st if you bought a car with 32000 miles that means you have 4k miles left on the basic factory warranty-
keep in mind that Subaru of America will not reimburse any service shops for warranty work if the car in question has been modified-(engine,etc) also keep in mind that if only the susp has been modified then they cannot deny engine related items.
from the mods u listed i'm sure that the car should have been sold "as-is" the dealer knows this- i work @ one so iknow-
basically if the dealer claimed there was a warranty then they will pay for all repairs themselves knowing that they will not be reimbursed by subaru of america-
bottom line review your paperwork and contracts-
if you need any further direction in this matter you can always reach me @

you may want to check the local laws, but I believe it's a violation of federal law for a dealer to sell a vehicle that's missing catalytics or had non-oem cats on it. you could possibly get out of the car that way.

Hey guys, here's a question. If I bought my WRX on Monday and drove it for about 300 miles from Dallas to Austin without really fluctuating my RPMs, and reaching speeds between 80 and 100mph on the highway, have i already significantly hurt my car? Then yesterday I put another 200 miles on my car (driving to San Antonio and back from Austin). I reached speeds of only 85mph and also didn't flucuate much in RPMs. Since I haven't broken in my car and all, I was just wondering to what extent the damage I've done and what parts of the engine might I have harmed. I'd appreciate all help and info. And if it matters, I'm at 750miles right now. Anything I can do to save my engine and prolong the life?

i mean its a 25,000 dollar car. i hope you read it.
did it bother your conscience @ all going 100 mph?
just a thought- for me when i bought my cars i made sure i understood the "prequisites" of the break in period.
please tell me that you never held your speeds/rpm@4k for extended periods of time
BTW my advice is gonna cost ya 1 scooby snack since thats all you got.
not tryin to blast you but i see "this" all the time. a customer comes in to our dealership complaining about some problem in their new car- 1st thing i ask them did you read the manual. they are like "what manual?" i then go
please don't become like those people

I was told by the dealership that I could go between 4000 and 4500RPMs and it would be ok. I don't recall reaching 4000RPMs tho, but I could be wrong. What's this with scooby snacks? I just joined, what's the purpose and how to give snacks? Thanks.
