88k time to switch to 10w30?

I've been running mobil 1 5w30 extended performance oil since day 1 with a lucas stabilizer.. Is it time to switch to 10w30 for my higher mileage? Should I continue using the stabalizer?

There's no reason to switch to a higher viscosity oil. There is no reason to use a 'stabilizer' supplement with a synthetic oil, either.

Oil additives of any kind are not required or recommended by Subaru. It doesn't matter whether you use synthetic or conventional oil. There is no need to change viscosity solely based on mileage either, just continue to follow the recommendations in your manual for viscosity vs. ambient temperature.

I was told by a Subaru technician to run dino oil for 10K.
Than after the engine breaks in to run any syntheic oil
you want.Mobil 1 syntheic is a great quality oil to use though.

Yea I run the Lucal Full Synthetic stabilizer every oil change.. I think of it as a small price to pay for my motor to last..

Your motor will last just fine without it, especially if you do regular changes with synthetic. Plus you'll have more $ in your pocket for other things.

There's a point of diminishing returns for overmaintaining a car. Sure, you can do monthly or even weekly oil and filter changes, or use the latest trick synthetic and additional supplements, but when you add up the costs you might actually come out ahead by sticking to the recommended maintenance schedule vs normal engine life.

Also, how long do you plan on owning and driving your vehicle? Six years? Ten years? Twenty, perhaps? You'll not recoup your costs when you sell or trade your car in.
