04 STI Suspension noise UPDATED!!
I have recently devolped what sounds like a bang in the right rear of my STI while going over bumbs, it almost sounds as if the stut is loose, has anyone had this/heard this and have any other ideas, I can replicate the sound by rocking the rear of the car while it is not moving ? any ideas???

Your strut is failing.
This is happening to lots of STis.
My car is actually in the shop right now having my rear passenger's side strut replaced.
The rear driver's side strut has already been replaced.
Do a search on "strut clunking" and you should get some more info.
on the www.imprezawrxsti.com forums, there is a lot of threads discussing this.

well the STI is headed into the dealership tommorow night, hopefully they will solve my banging woes, they were skeptical on the phone, the first question they asked me was, did you buy it here ? amazing
After owning three Scoobies this is the first one going to the dealership. Except for the 02 WRX wagon when I traded it in. wish me luck.

Well the dealer took care of me no problem, even replaced the mount. Great service, I had to make them wait for me because the day the car was going in I developed a flat in the RS and had to drive the STI instead. Oh well. First experience with Subaru warranty work in five years and no problem at all
