$7000 In Rebates for Saab 9-2X Aero, $5500 for Linear
An alternative way to pick up a WRX for cheap. Saab currently has $7000 in rebates for the 9-2X Aero, and $5500 in rebates for the 9-2X Linear. If you negotiate somewhat decently, you could get a stock Aero as low as $19,300 + TTL (edmunds invoice $26,300 - $7000). It also comes with a longer warranty (4 years) and 2 years free maintainance. I've been wanting a WRX for years and jumped on this opportunity when I heard about the rebates.

correct me if I'm wrong but
Am I mistaken in my belief that the 9-2 Aero is not in fact, a WRX, but rather an Impreza 2.5RS. I'm 99% certain that to get the turbo, you have to get the linear. I looked into getting a Saabaru because the dealers can't give them away, but even after massive discounts, rebates, and incentives (which really do nothing but send the resale value in the crapper), it's STILL $2500 more than a 2.5RS, and slower because it's heavier. The Linear, with the turbo, costs THOUSANDS more than a WRX, and for what? Leather? A power seat? No thank you.
and if you don't believe me on the resale bit, look at the resale value on the 9-3 and 9-5 since the GM takeover. You can get an 02 for like 10K, but it'll still cost you 5-6K for an an old body style 97 or 98 900 S..... show me another car for which this is true.... The only other example I can think of is the Gen 2 (95-99) vs gen 3(2000+) Mitsubishi Eclipse, and I'm not even going to get started about the direction that Mitsubishi is heading, but it starts with S and ends with outhreallyfast.
Rule of thumb when it comes to cars: If it feels too good to be true, don't waste your time.

92x Aeros were stickered ~$4K-$6K higher than WRX wagons at the dealerships near me (just bought my WRX a month ago, looked at them both). A $5K rebate would essentially give you a slightly slower WRX wagon with a nicer interior and more sound deadening.

Yes, the Aero, with the turbo, has the $7000 in rebates. I should know, just picked one up on sunday. My deal came out to be $2000 less than a stock WRX, if i could find a dealer to sell me at invoice and subtract the current $1500 subaru rebate.

Better hurry up!
Only 5 days left on the $7000 in rebates. People have been picking up Aero's (turbo version) with winter package for as low as $19,200.
