The reason it is so much more is 1. It is a turbo charged vehicle. that makes a BIG difference. 2. The car is vary light and it is awd. Insurance companys take all of this into account.

The Subaru ranks higher in both safety and reliability. The reason for the higher insurance is the larger number of wrecks and a higher than average theft rate. Unfortunate but true.

I went from a 1993 mr2 turbo to my wrx. I was paying double at my first insurance agency. Now I still pay about $1200 every 6 months. <--- I know! very pricey, but it is better than paying 2200 every 6 months. I switched over to e-surance for cheaper prices. Maybe you should look into changing to different insurance companies. BTW the car was financed by me and insured by me and I'm only 20, which would be the reason why it cost so much.

Wow I don't pay that much for the WRX and Firebird together! Thats with a claim and a ticket! I'm only 23, so I can't see my age making it that much lower! I guess I won't complain about mine being high ever again! ;P
