WRX getting too popular?

Where i live WRX's are everywhere. I live in the mountains and AWD, 4WD, or chains on the tires are a requirement to drive on the road when it is snowy. As you can imagine putting chains everytime it snows can be hassle. So for me, and a lot of people that live around me, a WRX is a very practical car. The funny thing is that the majority of people I see driving WRX's around here are Senior citizens.

I don't see many Riced out WRXs (Thank Goodness!), but i see WRXs here and there occasionally.
You shouldn't feel too bad that the WRX is slowly becoming popular. If you do, you have been brainwashed by consumer culture into the whole "your choice in products defines you as a person" thing.
It's bull****. So what if some stupid teenagers also have WRXs? So what if the brand is become more and more widespread and your car no longer single handedly makes you the "Unique and Special" person... Blah. I personally love my WRX because of just how it's overall a fun, and safe car to drive. I don't care that maybe a bunch of ricer punks have this car too, because i don't have a inferiority complex linked to my choice in automobiles.
Anyway. Economies of scale is good! Make more STis! I don't care if everyone can afford one, as long as get one!

HELL YES
Civics don't have the WRX's four wheel drive, factory turbo, and rave reviews from every single automotive publishing out there, nor do they have Rally heritage, and i'm a big fan of off-road rallying. I used to watch Austrailian rallys on Taiwanese speed channels.
A veichle's popularity shouldn't have anything to do with it's merit. I think that people are too concerned with their image... In fact, i'd like it if WRX were produced on a larger scale, meaning more affordable parts for me.
oooh oooh! this car will make me look cool! It will make me seem like a fun loving, sporty cool dude! it will make me look more mature! it will make me look younger! blah blah blah.
It's those kind of misguided image related beliefs that've led many a asian american brother to do stupid ****, like lower their automatic transmission Civic or generally "rice" it out.

You can't escape stupidity. A WRX with chrome 15's still isn't as bad as a Cobra on daytons. Talk about killing performance!! Or festivas with APC stickers and flames! It's funny, the same people who are complaining about too many WRX's don't seem to have a problem with the number of choices in aftermarket parts. You think there are dozens of upgrade choices for unpopular car models?
I've always believed that a stock car is merely a canvas to invent your own art on. Think there's too many WRX's, then personalize yours to make it unique!!!

Yah, who cares if its getting too popular. Good. High insurance rates as well as the price of the car (medium range) keep this car out of the hands of high school kids thinking they're bad ***. Do I care if a bunch of dorky high schoolers start driving the car? Not really....until it gets too (really really bad) annoying. I think everyone to some extent must care about the type of ppl driving their car. Its just like being in a club with a bunch of 16 year old wannabe M&Ms and I'm the only 26 year old normal person. How can you possibly not get annoyed if at every light a group of kids pulls up in their WRX trying to race you- and you're not really into that sort of thing?
Anyways, I'm getting a wagon.....puts me in a different class completely. Another downer for sedans (price......utility.....insurance.....ah the list goes on)
One more note- why is it so cool to make fun of civics? Civics are built very well by Honda and will just keep on going. Also great gas mileage, earth friendly, and an affordable price. Is it slower than the WRX? .....I should expect it to be, its 7 grand cheaper. People who bash civics are likely the same types who bash wagons...for no reason whatsoever, and want to race you at every light.
If there's any car to bash its overpriced euros (why so expensive? cuz the the dashboard (i.e. "fit and finish" looks better? who gives a crap about the dashboard- is it really worth 10-20k more?) But it looks cool right.
Or you can bash Hummers. What is the point of this automobile. Gets 10 mpg, can't park it, can barely drive it, you're not going into combat, its slow, its expensive. but it looks cool right.

I think they are, in 99 when I had my RS it was one of about 2,000 and you rarely if ever saw another one on the road. It was kind of nice. Now you can't swing a drunk trunkmonkey w/o hitting a WRX. The secret is out, it pains me to see a Subaru all you know whatted out with washer LED's and the like.
That's why when I replaced my RS I got a Forester XT. There are tons of Foresters but at least the XT is stealthy for the most part.

Hmmmmmm......
too popular? well if that were the case that would mean that you'd be able to find them in scrap yards, buy tuning parts for them at 7-11, and recieve sponsorships just for driving one. No, I dont think there that popular, yet. If they were would it be an entirely bad thing? I mean, come on, how many dumb kids have sent cars to an early grave only to have enthusiasts like us pick the bones and make power?
