Is it?

When I got my wgn in 01, I could go weeks without seeing another one on the road. Late 02 I could count on seeing one every week. I have seen at least 3 today alone. You can't keep a good machine down and with the performance of this vehical you could pretty much count on seeing loads on the street. I think cars that are too popular are the 5.0 mustang (every other car), civic (every other kid that couldn't afford the WRX), accord (allmost every mom in the U.S.). When you see that many subarus it's time to change, maybe a mazzarati or bugatti would fill the need of "never see" on the road. Until that time I am happy crushing all that step up and rev on me. Keep um' SPOOLING

Car Info: 2004 WRX Sedan
Since they came out in 2002, I think I have seen about 15 WRX's total. I have only seen one 2004 model on the road, besides my own. They are definitely never going to become like a Civic, where everyone and their brother owns one. If brand new WRX's were priced at 20-21 grand, you'd see tons more people buying them.

I think the popularity will level off a bit now that there are so many other competitors in the market (IE: SRT-4, EVO, STi...)

popularity = more units sold = economies of scale for the manufacturer.
Economies of scale = better product for less money.

The more they sell, the more they make. The money they make goes into fixing issues like clutch shudder, wheel bearing and it will incent them to put better transmissions in the cars.

If you want a specialty car you had better be willing to accept sub standard levels of reliability at a significant price premium. It's simple economics.

true...i guess somewhere in the middle would be good...i dont want them to be much more popular then they are now...i dont know about you guys but id rather not see it on the streets all the time and put up witha few minor things then see it everywhere with no problems...i live in the suburbs of new york and see maybe 1-3 a month not counting the guy i pass everytime i go anywhere...what about you guys?

I see 3 or 4 every day here in the bay area. But I see more 911's than WRX's around here and it seems like every other car is a Bimmer of some sort.

Why does everyone have to be an inDUHvidual? Who cares; its a great car, best bang for buck etc, etc. Just means there's less stupid people in the world. I'm sure the local rice shop can help you customize yours so nobody knows what the hell it is then you'll feel special again!
