Will we ever see an STI wagon???

I like the wrx sedan but I would rather have the wagon. But I also would like to have the STi engine in the wagon. Is '05 going to have a STI wagon?

Mostly because I bike I would like the extra space of a wagon.

Another question... anyone have the trailer hitch bike carrier on their sedan? Or bike rack on their sedan????

I really really want an STi wagon to come to the states.

As far as I know, though, there are no plans for an STi wagon in the '05 lineup.

What about other options vishnu upgrades etc...

So what do you guys think about other options such as the vishnu stuff? or other tuners? Basically I want to have a daily driver, and I don't really want to give up the factory warranty by bolting new crap onto the car. I do want a fast wagon though. Hmmm... any ideas? advice?

It takes work and money to make a super fast WRX wagon, but it can be done. I knew of two that were stupid fast (sadly one was just replaced with an STi).

There are other options for you, though. You can get an Forester XT or wait for the new Turbo Legacy Wagon or Outback 2.5XT.

All have a similar motor to the STi (2.5L turbo) but with different size turbos and different hp/torque outputs.

I think subaru should bring a STI wagon over, but I'm guessing their testing the market with the sedan first before they bring all their goodies over. I bet there will be a wagon over here sometime. It took awhile for us to get the wrx, now we have the STI, who knows what we'll get next!

I think that the STI for subaru is an image enhancement tool rather than a money maker... it entices buyers to the brand and to buy some of their more profitable products (wrx).

I would imagine that bringing the STI wagon wouldn't bring in a huge amount of buyers over the amount that the STI already attracts.

But if they did have a USDM one, I'd get one in a sec

Have you driven a WRX wagon? It is plenty fast, and a grand will get it very fast. IMO an STI is overkill for street use, you will never be able to find the limits of WRX on the street (safely) let alone an STI.
Not saying that I wouldn't buy one if it came out though

Yep good point. Just with the Vishnu ECU upgrade it seems like you can add a bit more punch for cheap.

sti wagons would be a ver very very select market simply because the sti's already are. i think the cost of marketing, r/d might not neccesarily be in their best interest financially. i really hope that i'm wrong though because i really loved "lusting" at the j-spec photos of the white wagon/gold rims... drool.

I think it could make sense for them to offer it as a special order item. Assuming the 2.5 turbo engine and drivetrain can be mounted in any Impreza with minimal effort*, SOA would not have to spend a dime on marketing or R&D. As you said, an STi wagon would be a "niche" in an already "niche" market. Following that logic, those that would want one/pay for one already know what it is and would not need much if any marketing to make them aware of the special order product. I love my WRX wagon, but I think my next car will be a turbo Legacy or an Audi, depending what manual transmission winds up being offered in the Legacy.

*This is a big assumption which I am not sure of. Perhaps someone that knows could clarify.

IMHO, there's a reason why they discontinued the STi wagon...

Forester STi.

Why have 2 STi grocery getters? They probably knew it was in the works, and decided to drop the wagon variant of the Impreza STi.
