Well, I like the RSX S, a lot. It is a fine automobile and it's overall appearance is much nicer than the old and new WRX. The rear end is a bit boring but still nicer than the WRX's plain jane Hyundai rear end.
The interior of the RSX is superior to the WRX as the materials are of a much better grade and have a nice feel. The seats in the RSX are a bit more comfortable, to me, than last years WRX. I'm waiting to try out the new seats in the 04 model.
The Handlind of the RSX is excellent and on par with the WRX, but the WRX is more fun as it has a more connected feeling with the driver. Also, both cars are under-tired but the RSX even more so as it needs a bit more grip due to it's FWD config. That's easily fixed in either car.
The RSX comes with many nice features that you won't find and can't have in the older WRX such as; leather seating, sunroof, semi auto climate control.
The new WRX will offer a sunroof to help in that regard.
The WRX has 4 doors so that you can have rear seat passengers although I don't think they'll want to go on a long trip as it's a bit tight back there but still very useable. The RSX has decent back seats but no headroom and I would'nt want to be back there for more than about 20 minutes.
Power goes to the WRX as it may have some turbo lag but once it's boiling hold on. The RSX has very smooth linear power as the speed builds and builds hitting a nice surge when it gets on that Vtec cam.
Drivetrain. The WRX gets the nod for it's AWD config but the RSX apex's sweetly as it has a nice rear that can be pushed if you know how to do it right on a FWD that's set up nicely which the RSX is. The WRX has a solid AWD system that has proven it's ability.
The trans is the RSX is superior in feel and function. The clutch take up is smooth and deliberate. The shift action is short and bolt rifle accurate.
It's simply a drivers pleasure to shift the RSX-S. That's my FAVORITE feature in that car. The shift feel is superb. The WRX falls short on that end. The manual has a nice feel and the 03 feels a bit better to me than the 02 models but still not as smooth or accurate in feel as the RSX. I will say that the WRX shifter feels better than the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4. The Audi is very non-sporting in feel.
Price goes to the RSX as it comes fully loaded under $24k MSRP. The WRX doesn't offer as many options as the RSX and if you add the options to come close to the RSX the WRX will be a couple thousand more. Discounts are available on both models with excellent deals on 03 WRX's which can be had for at least $500 under invoice and today my dealer says that might be able to go $1000 UNDER. In that regard, it will cost a bit less than an RSX.
Which one? Well, for me I choose the WRX. Overall, the WRX is a bit roomier for me. It's easier to get in and out of due to it's taller ride height in regard to it's seat placement. I love the overall feel as it's a completely satisfying
driver oriented car. It puts a smile on my every time I drive it. The RSX does as well but the WRX suits me better. Also, the WRX has a bit more functionality. Granted it's not the biggest back seat but it's much bigger compared to the RSX and it has a real trunk.
Also, I love the sound of the boxer 4, wow, unique. The overall sensation in the WRX is one of mechanical function and precision. I love the sounds it makes from the differentials, to the engine, to the turbo spooling, to the exhaust. It's a total visceral enthusiast hug. It just feels and sounds like a sports car.
Either car is very nice. You have to decide which car has the strengths that appeal to you. You won't go wrong with either car. I think they are both wonderful drivers cars.

i used to be a honda guy, and yes they are VERY well engineered, and VERY reliable, but that car just doesnt have the bite that the wrx does in many aspects, and although many people like the looks of the rsx over the wrx, i think the Rsx looks like a girls car, it just looks feminen
what i think it comes down to is power or looks,
personally i love the way a wrx looks, and the extra doors are key

those are all great points...but i think it depends on what marinwood is looking for....2/4 door?, does interior matter much, want a turbo? AWD...a LOT better in snow and rain (can be more fun too)...which look do u like more?...basically what are u looking for in a car...is it a daily driver?...stuff like that...but no matter what u buy you'll be happy u bought it

I was in the exact same position as you. I had actually decided to get the RSX, when I was passing a Subaru dealership and decided to give it one more test drive.
I know exactly when I decided to get the WRX. I was coming up a hill when the salesguy told me to give it some gas at the top. I got the RPMs above 4000 and I was pushed back into the seat.
Everyday I have a blast driving my WRX. It is a spirited ride that I don't think I would get in the RSX-s. No doubt, the Acura is a nicer car inside. I sometimes miss leather, moonroof, other refinements. But the bottom line is that I was looking at cars like the Type S and the WRX because I wanted something with a little punch under the hood. The WRX has a big punch. I gaurantee you will not get bored driving it.

damn u guys are a lot of help no joke. i really appreciate the advice and thanks for lookin out. WoRX i really thak you for takin the time to write all that out it helped a LOT. im a guy of quality things and always have been. im only 19 and sometimes think for what im going to use the car for-daily driver, sport driving occasional auto-X the WRX might be the better choice. the RSX-S with leather and all is nice but the WRX is more me. im also payin for the car all on my own and i think the FUN of the wrx might keep me more motivated to work hard for it. im just thinkin that for a single person with no passengers a 4 door is quite much but i cant chose a car for its amount of doors. the quality of the RSX is a lil hard to let go and its hard to hear people sayin stuff about the poor quality of the WRX. Lil confused still but im leanin towards the WRX. thanx guys--peace.

i hope this helps...the wrx and rsx are both on the car and driver 10 best...BUT the wrx has been compared to the s4 and 320i(car and driver)...it came in second by ONE vote....right behind the audi just because one tester didnt like it as much...its still very impressive...plus every1 owns a honda/acura (at least around here)...so if u get a wrx itll be like the only one on the block..thats all for now...hope it helps!

Its funny that you ask that question as I'm sure most of us here have had to answer it some time before. I unlike most people here actual bought the Type S first and was disappointed with the aftermarket performance parts available for it. Sure there are many options put for the price you pay it generally isn't worth it. So what did I do? Promptly went to the nearest Suby dealership and traded that puppy in for an 03 wagon and have never looked back....
