lightened bodyshell, more powerful engine, closer ratio gearing, uprated suspension. Basically, a spec-c is a car that's had 85% of the prep work necessary to make it a full-blown race (or rally) car done to it already by the factory.

Actually, Spec C's (some) have AC. It has a smaller compressor. Also, the glass on Spec C is much thinner and ligher. Not all Spec C's have no power everything. You are thinking RA.
The RA is basically a race team ready WRX. The Spec C is RA but normal people can drive it.

From what i've read on the Spec C, it seems as if it's DCCD is able to give up to 90% torque split to the rear wheels ( where the USDM STi is max'd out at 65%). I dont know this for sure, but i've read this in a few UK magazines which have tested the STi Spec C.

I also read that the Spec-C disengages the rear diff when you apply the handbrake. Anyone know if the US car does this? Not really prepared to try it out myself.
