Whats the chassis code for the 2004-2005 Impreza WRX STi (USA version)? Is it GDA or GDB or something else?

 

I believe it is GDB. GDA I think is the 02/03 model, and GC8 the one just prior.

 

Its GDB. GDA is the WRX (either bugeye or new headlights). The B denotes STi, where the A denotes WRX.

To differentiate between the bugeye and the new headlights (WRX only), its a GDBA for bugeye and GDBC for the new headlights.

The 2.5RS is GC6 or GM6 (depending on sedan or coupe). The GC8/GM8/GF8 is an old WRX in a 2.5RS skin (never released in the states).

I've seen a different post on nasioc. Not sure who's correct.

According to him, the USDM sti is the GDF... with the F being the engine code.

He's around. I haven't been to a meet in several weeks but he's alive and kicking.

Note that in the attached charts, published in the MY02 Impreza service manual, there is not yet a 2.5 liter turbo listed in the engine code. There is an 'A' and an 'E', denoting 2.0 liter turbo and 2.5 N/A engine.
