i took out my back seat... all of it seat belts, bolts 3rd break light, jack tire, everything i could....
i did replace all that weight with my amp, sub and bat cap...
moral of the story you can have a sound system with the car just keep it to 2 passengers

What part of NJ you from Mike? I plan on ripping everything out too, but not replacing it with anything. I'm also waiting on my Hawker Battery to come in. The only weight that I may add is a Cusco Rear Strut Tower bar with the traingle thingie. I've taken about 100 lbs out of my car in the past week..

Some things I did to reduce weight in my rex, was
1. GFB pulleys
2. JUN 12lb. flywheel
3. SS Stromung/custom 2.5inch catless/resonatorless turboback. Perrin UP being installed Monday, that should save some weight I think too.
4. Removed foglights and installed STI solid covers
5. Removed spare/jack etc.(have bottle of run flat air now) as well as sound deadening in boot
6. Removed sound deadening/fire blanket from bonnet
7. Removed the two metal braces that are underneath the rear seat that hold the seat belts connect too.(I never have more than 1 pass. usually, hey screw em' hehe)
Note: Do not remove the metal brace that runs horizontally across under the reat seat as that may have an important function from an structural standpoint in the car.
8. Removed passenger floormats
9. Removed intake resonator(a whoping 10ounces I think! hehe)
Nothing too serious done to my car..just the minimal stuff..it adds up though.

hasn't anyone removed the A/C? that will reduce a lot of excess weight, which is why the impreza type RA doesn't have AC or a radio. that reminds me, removing the radio, speakers, and door panels will help, too. also, i didn't see the rear seats on the list. that is a few pounds.
also, i think most of us could stand to lose a few pounds. if you work hard, you could probably lose 15 pounds. the things i mentioned would remove over 50 more pounds from the car. maybe more. not bad.

I think getting rid of all the carpet/insulation/sound damping would do good. There's usually quite a bit. Also loosing all the plastic paneling. If you don't rally, then loose the pasenger seat. If you do rally then put your codriver on a diet. (I guess I could stand to loose a few lbs too).

Put the 2002 WRX motor in my 00RS. That saved almost 200 lbs over the 2002 WRX Plus Jun Flywheel and removed a Lead weight (Vibration Damener?) from under the front crossmember plate.
