Torn CV Boot/Joint
Hey everyone, just a week ago I took my Suby up Donner Pass heading towards Nevada. During the trip, I think I tore my CV Boot.
Question is, can I still drive my Suby with a torn CV Boot? I understand driving on a torn CV Boot I should avoid sandy areas or water because I know that once those get inside the boot the joint/axle could be compromised. It could be another 1-2 weeks until I can get it into the shop and have it fixed. Just wondering is it safe to still drive it say around town (I live in the suburbs)?
Feedback would be appreciated, thank you!

You can still drive your suby, don't wait too long to replace it. FYI, It's cheaper to replace the axle with a factory rebuild axle instead of replacing the inner and outer cv boot. I replaced both front axles almost 3mos ago.

I was planning to bring it it Subaru of Elk Grove, but I know it'll cost more but at least it's honest work. To be honest I rather bring it in a self owned auto repair garage but i've heard way too many stories of how dirty people are. But just wondering aprox how much did it cost you? Cause I think just a torn boot can be fixed at home.

For both axles I paid $180 ea plus labor and tax. I know it's a little pricey, my suby wrx wagon is my daily driver, I don't have the time or garage space to make the repairs.
I know there's some independent suby shops in the Sac area, just ask the i-club members here, I'm pretty sure they will steer you in the right direction.
