I really don't care if the WRX is becoming too popular because it is so much fun to drive. I always have a smile on my face anticipating driving, driving and shortly after driving my '04 WRX wagon. It will only get better because I only have 522 miles to go until I reach the 1000 mile mark. I'm already having fun and I still can't push it yet, the anticipation is killing me.
As an old fart - 36 and counting, why do people debadge their cars? Just wondering what the logic is behind this.
The only two things I would change to my WRX would be a sunroof for the wagon and darker tinting on the windows. Anyone know the legal limit for tinting in NYS. By the way, I have only seen two WRX's in about two months here in Upstate New York.

Car Info: 02 WRX wagon=dead; rollin' in a Craptastic Camry!
The only rational reason I can think of for debadging is that it makes it easier to clean. I am always getting bits of my washing mit stuck in the letters S U B A R U on the bak of the car.
I still grin after driving my car and it's been over 2 years and 34K miles!

Debadge gives that squeaky-clean-I'm-aerodynamic-as-heck look and feel to the exterior and it provides the occasional laugh when 16 year olds pull up next to you and can tell what kind of car you have, "WHOA THATS A SICK custom CIVIC YO!"
besides... it does suck to have chunks of yellow in the form of the letters S U B A R U on the ground by the time you have finished cleaning.

Um, I'm going to debadge my new car once I get it simply because people like to pry it off when given the chance. I'd rather they not have a badge to pry off so they don't screw with the paint job or scratch/dent the rest of the car when they are prying it off.

Irish89,
Hey nice taste! I plan on getting the wrx wagon very very soon, and all I plan on doing (until warranty runs out and I'm bored and rich) are tinting the windows and buying an aftermarket sunroof. But don't you also want to paint that ugly black side skirt on the car too? Hey, what is the going price for an aftermarket sunroof anyways?
When you guys debadge your car, does it leave any holes or anything messy?
Not too many wrxs around San Jose CA, I guess we don't need awd around here. I can't believe there are thunderstorms in the midwest right now. Its summer for goodness sakes.

Outback, Legacy, Impreza, WRX, Baja - They are all great cars and the more of them I see around the more it makes me smile!
I own a 2000 Outback Wagon and a 02 WRX Wagon. I see lots of OB wagons - same year - same color - doesn't bother me. My black WRX is a little more rare - none of the exact car around here. I'm happy they changed the black to a Java Black - mine is Midnight black pearl and the most beautiful color ever - WHEN IT'S CLEAN...
The more WRX's I see the better - no worries - because mine has my personal custom touches that make it special to me. I love to see what other people do with their rides - just don't leave it stock - modin' is too easy and too much fun.

I've seen alot of pics of WRX's on this forum that are debadged. They all look sweet, but I probably won't do it on my car until a few years later when I opt for a different look.
Another reason to debage the car is perhaps weight reduction? hehehe....
