Thanks to the guys at Lachute Subaru....My Nightmare Is Now Over!!
Well here's the story if interested.........
Well it's been a long road but it FINALLY ended yesterday at around 4:00, I tried to hook up my Avcs in my 2.0 swapped V7 Spec C motor but had absolutely no luck, had it wired and rewired, bought harnesses and more harnesses then rewired but still no luck had a cam sensor check engine light problem and the car ran like crap, so after 6 months of that (yes I said 6 months) I put back the Link engine management and called it good.......
Even though I really needed and wanted the avcs system to work, especially after all the blood sweat and tears I've had with this and other minor/stupid problems I've encountered in the past with this swap as well as the tranny gear set but that's another story, anyway, I opted to Drive the 6-7 hours up to Lachute just to tune my link and have them look at my situation.
Well, after stalling at the border and not being able to start the car for like 45 minutes, I finally get there Monday morning Stephan (one of Lachutes finest) goes outside to start the car so he can tune my Link, but can't get it started. There was a problem somewhere and it's like 2:00pm now and still no start. We are having a wiring problem despite having spent the last 6 months rewiring and wiring. I have to say that the wiring didn't look pretty, so while they are trying to figure THAT out, I ask Julien (Head of Lachute Performance) if he has a V7 ecu’s handy, just to check out the work and see if they can hook up the avcs. Since I’ve already spent the last 6 months trying, I might as well have them look, since I just drove 7 hours up there.
Well, with that said, he locates one and slaps it in, after they straightened the wiring out, (mind you, I've already paid money for parts over the six months that they said were bad, granted, I did need a o2 sensor, all in all about 800-$1000.... for the Jdm harness, an avcs wiring (kit) sensors etc....) anyway, we started it up and boom instant check engine light...the same stupid light they've been seeing again and again for 6 months straight...Stefan and Eve (2 great technician's at Lachute) popped the hood and take a look, within 2 minutes they spot the problem.........the cam sensor bracket that is forged on the cam ?(Sleeve)? on top of the head on the driver’s side is bent back about a 1/8 of an inch...after that fix and putting everything back together they start her up and WOW …….NO check engine light yeeeehaaaaa!!!! The car runs great...
ONE DAY, yes I said ONE DAY later I'm on the road Avcs working ecuteked nice for my setup, heading back home to good old N.Y. on what I have to say has got to be one of the best road trips I've ever taken through the mountains of Vermont and N.Y. happy as can be.
I have to say Hats off to Lachute Subaru Performance, the technicians/ Tuners, Stephan, Eve, Frank the welder on call, (Nick for driving Pat and I to our hotel...lol) and for the caliber of professionalism that you only see with Nasa Engineers…..was so apparent in the quality of workmanship and caring for the car and it's owner that I thought you could only find in movies......but it is actually hidden away in Canada!!!......lol
I will be looking forward to doing more business with you guys at Lachute in the near future, thanks again for your hard work, honesty and dedication to excellence….
Cheers!!
