Subaru Specific Magazine?
Im getting tired if readin Sport Compact Car, Super Street and all these other so called tuner mags that seem to only write about RX-7's and Supra's. These cars are great and all but I dont want to read the same thing every single month. I was wondering if there where any Subaru specific magazines out there. TIA

I'm glad we don't have a lot of coverage in magazines. It's just like what happened with that SCC article about the SR swap in to the s13 a year or two ago. I had an s14 at the time that article was written, and before the article the forums were nice, and they were small.
Then, about 2 weeks after it came out, we got FLOODED with ricers wanting to swap in an SR. If we had similar coverage for the WRX, we'd get a huge ricer group coming through here and it would just give us negative attention. The Subaru community is awesome right now - I hope it stays this way

that is a good point, the following right now is pretty chill. However, I do think it'd be nice to have a small publication for us. Something with the same popularity as grassroots motorsports or something. I think it'd be good for the subaru community to have a small magazine like that.

that would be a good business idea, to start a subaru mag specifically for suby enthusiasts....we could even broaden it out to specifics for each import car...something similar to impreza magazine, but not in japanese...damn that would be dope, wish i had the time...do you think we would have enough material to put in there...travel around the united states and even the world and get interviews and specs for suby enthusiasts world wide...hrmmmm i may look into this

Awsome. I yeah I know what you mean about the ricers invading like a plague. I just hate sitting at a light and a kid in a half broke down car and a big wing with a body kit that is falling off that thinks he is hot stuff. I would hate to see that happen to our WRX's. What I would like to see is maybe a article on different mods once a month, you know like a mod of the month deal, product reviews, some WRC coverage, and just the lastest and greatest new in the world of Subaru. I just get tired of spending 6 bucks on a magazine just to read how someone else but 2 turbo's on their Supra. Thanks for the response guys. Any suggetions on new mags that I should try besides Sport Compact Car and Super Street? TIA

I agree with you guys about everyone and there mom going out and getting a wrx and ricing it out, but a self respected subaru magazine that not only focused on the wrx/sti but the forester, legacy, and the older rs's would be really nice

My opinion is that even though the rex and STi are new to the USDM, I think we've come a long way in just a few short years. Our needs are a bit different than the Japanese market. We have tighter emission standards, different crash standards, crappier gasoline, and law enforcement not friendly to imports. We also have wide open roads (in many parts of the country), access to road courses and drag strips, and plenty of regional auto-x events around the country.
If someone were to publish a new Subaru enthusiast magazine, it should be fresh from the ground up, and not a re-hash of some JDM glossy. I'd also like to see it encompass all subies, not just the WRX/STi.

to publish a mag. you need millions of dollars.
the only reason Superstreet and all alike publish bodykits and so called "rice" is because they need to pay salaries and pring color pages of a 200 pagazine. Im sure that most of the editor staff are just as big car inthusiasts as we are.
If they wrote a magazine article about something more complicated than how to put on a bodykit or an exhaust, they would loose a lot of money BECAUSE KIDS ARE NOT INTRESTED IN ANYTHING ELSE!
so a magazine for Subaru inthusiasts would have to be 90% sponsored by a very rich guy who is willing to loose a lot of money. and how many of us outthere anyways? 100,000 thousand? less? you cant make a living on selling 100,000 magazines....

Yea I think i'd agree our mag idea is just a dream. Although some publicity for Subarus wouldnt be bad. When I first got into the idea of owning a subaru i looked and mags and found and article where they mention i-club. Thats how i found this wonderful computer. It was published in Super Street.

maybe an online magazine would be a good idea. Get a few of the most knowledgable guys around here to write monthly articles about cars/mods and stuff in their area and just add it as a page on here. It'd keep it low key and still give us something entertaing.
I think its a great idea, I used to always go to an online mag (I forget the name) for my nissan
so what do you guys think, online mag?
