Where do you get information on Japanese cars that old? I hardly ever see any sites dedicated to them or people interested in them, aside from 240z and Hakosuka stuff (the latter of which I will unfortunately never ever own...)

I use google. If you type in the exact name of a car, some good results usually pop up.

That's the thing, other than stuff like the Civic, which is still made in some form today, I don't even know what all was SOLD back then, or what names they went by. I'm sure I'll find something though, there have to be History of Honda, Subaru, Mitsu, blah blah blah sites out there.

subaru of nashua, nh has a 360 on thier showroom floor. it is tiny
making the original mini look as big as a town car. 66mpg was achieved by a 360 cc motor. with a tail wind on a good downhill you could see 60mph. instead of trying the close to impossable conversion why not put a motorcycle motor in the little car? bmw got away with it! by the way the yellow #39 is a pre civic honda probably 800 cc. if you do find a 360 it would be nice to keep it stock they are rare!

But the original mini was made up until 2002. There were apparently 5,387,862 of them made. There were numorous variants including a van, a pickup, a woody wagon, special marques (Riley, Woolsley), and of course the Mini Cooper in various incarnations. The mini is know the world over. It is generally credited as being the first successful production transverse engine design. etc etc. Not the mention the fact that I grew up in one.
I agree the 360 is cute and deserves some attention from subaru enthusiasts but I don't think it is in the same league as far as heritage.
Also, I would agree. Unless its a wreck, keeping it stock would be much the best idea
