You know, when the first WRX's were released here in Hawaii, the running joke was that the WRX had the headlights of a Neon and the rear tailights of a Echo. And there is some people that say that's why Subaru is changing the look of the car after only 2 years? Talk is talk, but you cant deny what performance the WRX is capable of. Same goes for the Neon.

For me, reguardless of make, I still have to give the SRT-4 props for the performance the car is capable of, even though I drive a Subaru which is besides to point.

Oh, and about Geo Metros.........I know of one here that has a Toyota/TRD/Formula Atlantic 4AGE 5-valve engine that puts out 200+hp and has, in fact, "spanked" a couple of WRX's that I know of, not to mention numerous Hondas, Nissans, Mustangs and such. No props for a Corolla based, Metro?

I'll give it then.

"the WRX has the advantage at the takeoff.....but at the 100ft mark the SRT4 is pulling away from the WRX like a Viper passing a school bus"

"by the 1/4 mile the SRT4 is easily 3 to 4 car lengths ahead."

"by the 2nd 1/4 mile the WRX driver had to squint to see the SRT4"

Obviously we have all taken up with the wrong cars... and seeing as how the car is going to be such a hot item we are probably all stuck.

Ohh if I only had that "factual" article a few months ago.
Sorry to reintroduce the thread again, but I had to respond to this one.

I look at the SRT4 and only see a FWD car with a turbocharged 2.4l engine with sports sus. Seems like a meat and potatoes car in terms of technology with nothing out of the ordinary IMHO. Also, I would think that with a turbo powering the front wheels, that it pushes a lot going into corners. But, the price is good (~20k right?)for a car that powerful. I think it will take a chunk out of the Subaru WRX, Sentra SE-R, Integra Type-R and Ford Focus SVT market.

But, for me, I'd rather save up and get the Sti. The car that Dodge's SRT came up with is no comparison to the car that Subaru's STi came up with.

Tim
