WORD
Once there are SRT-4's on the street, then let the comparisons and debate begin. Until then, it's just speculation.

We can talk trash all we want about either car. The only way to tell is to see an SRT on the street.
As a neon owner, I'm sorry for that "Mopar Now" article. It was purely 1 sided.
To compare the SRT to other neons is like compareing the EVO to the lancer. ALOT has changed from the 2end gen Neon platform.
As for the quality issue, How many of you keep your cars in *pure* stock form? How many people that you race keep their cars in *pure* stock form?
All cars have quality issues. Bentlys like to burn, civics like to have wheel/hub combos roll down the road without the car, neons have head gasket problems, WRX's have grenade-a-drivetrain, and ZX2's... well... 'nuff said.
If you like to pick up "hot chicks" and call them "hot chicks", They'll laugh at you no matter what you drive. That is, unless they're the pay per play type.
I've driven WRX's, a co-worker has one. I like them. I may buy one. I'm waiting to drive an SRT before I buy anything.

The fact that the WRX has competition doesn't bother me one bit. But if it is true competition then it shouldn't need a bogus article that anyone with a little knowledge can see right through.
"the SRT4 was puling away from the WRX like a Viper passing a school bus"
With garbage like that how can anyone be expected to take the car seriously. Who knows it could be a great car but will it end up on Car and Drivers best 10, 2 years in a row doubtful.

the srt-4 is in production. and you can rely on figures from the ones the magazines tested. they are right in line with the pt cruiser turbo hp & torque #s which has been produced and released. they are seeing the same #s.

Ok...I'm not sure if this was posted already but think about it..The WRX was produced in sorta the same fashion as a rally car...It was desinged off a rally car..this I know..and it's to rally specifications, as far as I know...The SRT-4 is not...put a 2.0 in there and let's see what happens......I bet that pos neon won't put out those same numbers............

IMO making Neon so popular is a good thing.
This way all the ricers will focus on the SRT instead of the WRX, Which means less idiots crashing, street racing, instaling altezzas and light up washers, and ruining the good image of true subaru enthusiasts.
WRX will once again become a enthusiast car. Like 2.5RS is.
By the time the SRT hits the street I'll be ready to take up the challenge with a 2.5L T3/T4 Linked GC8. I'll make that poor sucker take his car back to the dealer.
Sure SRT is fastout of the box for -$20K, I have to mod my car, but take ride in my car and tell me it wasn't worth it.

I think Neons are decent cars. Anyone remember the Neon ACR? It may not be a performance car, but it's certainly no slouch. I'll even be blasphemous and say it could probably hang with a WRX stock for stock in the turns *gasp*. But it will never be the car the WRX is. I don't care what you do to it, it's still front wheel drive. I don't care what anyone says it's not a performance car configuration.
As for the rally SRT-4, give me a break. VW used to rally a beetle too, doesn't make it a performance car. As for it beating some WRXs, of course I'm sure Dodge's drivers are no slouches. I bet Colin McRae driving a base neon could beat me in a new WRX, doesn't make it a faster car.

well, it won SCC best car of the year award. the first one it has ever had. the wrx is a great car, but it isnt the be all end all high performance car you guys think it is. it was never meant to be, hence the aluminum block.
I dont hink the WRX is the be all end all performance car, and most people here dont feel that way either. That shows because you do not see any Subaru magazines running around writing articles full of blatant lies. I will say it is a great car and that you hard pressed find a car in its price range that offers everything the WRX offers. And im not even talking fully loaded. I think its Mopar that feels their car is something it isn't.
As far as the SCC I read that also thats alot different than Car and Driver 10 best thats 10 best out of all cars around not just Sport compacts.

obviously they dont test ALL cars around. just ones that are popular among buyers so they will get more readers to buy the mag. we will have just have to wait and see next year if the srt-4 gets in there and wins.
