This snowy weather sucks!!!

i don't know what you're talking about! you have an awd car.
snow + parking lot = learning how to drive your car at and beyond the limit of adhesion without having to go 60 mph. the car will pretty much react the same way it would on dry pavement, except with much lower forces (and chance of catastrophe) involved.
do 4 wheel drifts not interest you?!?
just wondering

I agree...
We got hit hard yesterday and on the way home from work I hit ALL the backroads and dead-end streets I could!!! man it was fun.
I was pissed that my street was plowed!
my ABS light came on though...think I should take it in?

yes the joy of snowy parking lots!! learning how to drift corners, learning how to not over correct, pulling awd donuts, o i love it!
don't worry about your abs light unless it stays on for a while. they always come on when having some fun in the snow. it senses the wheels moving different speeds, and just confuses the ecu. should go away though.

first make sure the following are true:
a) you shouldn't be under the influence of anything when you're fooling around like this. nor should you have any substances/materials/objects in the car that might get you in trouble
b) you're not doing it in a lot that's too small, or in an area that you could lose control and damage anyone's property but your own
c) make sure it's a rather public area, as in, not a private business parking lot--try to make it a mall, a local community college, etc.
d) try to keep it reasonable. power slides at 60mph, no matter how big the lot, are a bit over the top.
then you can make the valid arguement that you're attempting to learn how your car reacts to driver input--you're learning the limits of the car's handling and how you can most quickly and effectively recover from a loss of control situation, or one in which you have to react quickly on less-than-optimal surfaces. you're not putting anyone's property in jeopardy.
the important thing is to tell the truth, which is that you're trying to become a better, more defensive, more experienced driver. unless the cop is a total moron ***** he'll take your comments at face value and at the very worst will just tell you to get lost and go home.
plus, while i tend to agree with the other poster about having them catch you first, i haven't been in a car yet that can outrun a radio. keep that in mind at all times!

thanks guys.
school parking lots around here are out of the question. they are regularly patrolled and you will be arrested if you're on school property at night. all the grocery stores have curbs and light posts everywhere so they wont work.
The place I was thinking is a local hockey rink next to my school but its not school property so I wont get arrested.... it has a big lot about 150yds wide and 350yds long with no light posts, no buildings to hit, and no cars are there at night. so the only thing i could damage is my own car if I hit a snow bank or whatever.

if you have a mall in your area that has a parking garage, and the top level has no roof, that is the PERFECT place to practice. cops never go up there, the snow is always there, no one parks on the top level, and theres obsticles that you can use to practice with( )
i find it a really good place to drive like a fool.
