Whoops, silly me for assuming Subaru wouldn't change something they didn't have to. Still, if you don't close off the other port in the fender with something (does the $5 Impreza piece fit?) then you're still getting mostly engine air. Thanks for the clarification Roo.

 

so, i picked up a fram air hog filter (pep boys actually had it in stock for the same price summit carries them for, minus shipping of course ) and I went to yank the air silencer out.................

not happening. it's wayyyyyyyyy to big to pull it out of there without removing the fender unless it can be broken down into smaller pieces. so it's just going to stay there. looking at the way it's set up, i really can't imagine it being too restrictive. the opening in the fender for the air box is tiny anyway, so i really don't see it improving airflow.

 

Yep, the Impreza fender plug will work.
