Proper Way to Store Engine Long Term?
Hey everyone,
I have recently purchase a EJ207 for my 2002 RS. If I descide to keep the engine I however wont be installing it for another year or two.
Has anyone any tips on storing the engine properly long term? Ive heard with other engines to remove the spark plug and insert about an once of motor oil. If this a good idea and or even possible with the boxer engine sitting up right.
Any other storage tips would be appreciated. Like how best to avoid rust in the cooling channels (fill with anti freeze?) Seal all entrances/tubes?
Is storing this engine a viable idea or am I just sending it to an early grave?
Thanks

from popularmechanics.com-
Remove the spark plugs and spray some oil into the cylinders to prevent rust and corrosion. You can use conventional engine oil with a spray-type squirt can or aerosol fogging oil designed for boat storage. Turn the crankshaft (with a socket and ratchet wrench on the crank pulley bolt) about four to six times to circulate the oil. Reinstall the spark plugs and reconnect the plug wires.
Hope it helps
