proper oil pressure?
sup everybody,
What would be a proper oil pressure reading (PSI):
When first stating the car (WRX) in the morning?
When driving hard under boost?
When in idle?
This might be a very dumb question but anyway:
What would cause your oil pressure to be too low or high?
Thanks in advance
Much appreciated

Your oil pressure depends largely on your engine operating temp and the viscosity of the oil used.
Assuming a 212 F operating oil temperature of the engine on the highway, a 5w30 and 5w50 will have a different viscosity index. Remember that more pressure doesn't mean more lubrication. Imagine sucking honey through a straw compared to water.
So therefore oil pressure driving hard under boost, idle, and starting the car all depends on other factors. Just remember that the outside ambient has no significant impact of the engine oil operating temperature once the vehicle is moving and enough air is flowing through the engine bay. Synthetic oils are not as volatile in terms of composition changes in comparison to conventional dino oils due to outside ambient temperature
If your car overheats in these conditions then something is wrong with your cooling system. The analogy here is that a pot of water doesn't keep getting hotter and hotter if you're boiling it at one constant temperature, it will peak and stay there. The airflow going through your vehicle and the cooling system provide the temperature stability for your engine.
