The problem with altezzas?
I noticed a lot of people don't like the altezzas? You have to admit they are better than stock.
I just want to know peoples opinions and why they like or dislike 'em. And yes I have them on mine but just wondering

A gross stereotype. Altezzas don't always look bad (like on the IS300, Evo, it looks ok....not great, but ok). But then it looks really really bad on some cars. They buy the kind they sell at Kragen Auto or Pep Boys and man is it ugly. Most altezzas that come stock on cars look ok, it is the aftermarket ones that are flaming.

IMHO, Altezzas are not only aesthetically unpleasing (my opinion), they are unreliable (they often fit poorly) and sometimes dangerous (they are often too dim for brake lights to be seen; the brake lights are not as easily visible as they are on stock setups). My 2 cents

I read a thread somewhere else where someone had Altezzas and was rear-ended. The person who rear-ended him successfully sued him stating he couldn't see his brakelights. The insurance company did not cover the person with Altezzas because he modified a "safety" aspect of the car (by modifying the brakelights) and had to pay out of pocket.

Besides being *** ugly, they're poorly constructed such that they leak in water, and many of them are not DOT-legal because they don't contain reflectors. Did I mention they're also really, really ugly? Ed's Evo looks a thousand times better after he swapped out the Altezzas with normal brake light covers (from an Evo VII, I think?).

I hate them, and think they are ugly on almost every car. On the Evo, I would swap out the Altezzas for the stock Lancer tails as soon as I possibly could. And on the IS300, the only way I like them is with the dark finish instead of the chrome. but even then, if I could swap them for regular loking lights, I would. And I hate the whole trend, where everyone is putting them on the cars stock. RX8, Lexus SUV, Evo, bla bla bla....

Why? Because when you put them on your car, your car looks like it belongs to a 15 year old with an IQ of 2.
