Pitch Stop Mount Question

firstly, i am uncertain where this would go...

anywho... so, has anyone upgraded to the Group N version? if so, what difference was noticed? what are the benefits and drawbacks?

does the engine seem more responsive? it there more engine noise in the cabin? was it a real pain to install?

from my thinking, the EJ engines naturally shifts in a side-to-side motion and not fore to aft. the pitch stop seems to be primarily designed to help negate fore to aft motion. again, this is purely my thinking with no other words YAY or NAY.

i'm not doubting that it does have some benefits. i would venture a guess to say that the Group N engine/transmission mounts would have more impact on performance than the Pitch Stop mount.

but, as i'm new to the subaru thing, i'm looking for information and assistance from everyone else.

the last engine mount upgrade i dealt with, ended with a shattered chassis at that particular mount. so, i am hesitant to run out and upgrade this instant...

my thoughts are that it helps keep the engine from "pitching" forward during hard braking. Had the STi Pitch stop on my 02 wagon along with the transmission and motor mounts. Car felt more planted.

Any more thoughts on the pitch stop mount?

Seems like it should be pretty easy to just get some steel plate, slap some spacers on the sides and bolt in place of the stock mount for a tenth of the price, achieving the rigidity everyone is looking for.

here's my 2cents...

when you begin limiting the movement too much, something breaks.

using a spherical or heims joint setup will give you tremendous feedback and stability, but over time the wear on whichever component it is, will cause it to fail.

polyurethane is less damaging than either spherical or heims, but i hate the noise transmission properties.

a Group N (ie. harder rubber than stock) setup is a 'middle ground' compromise. you get more performance than stock, but none of the harshness of polyurethane or spherical or heims.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like a good idea to do the whole package, motor, tranny, and pitch stop mounts at the same time.
