What exactly is beating on a 2007 wrx?? If you shift just under redline every time is that bad?

Driveline shock is what I consider beating on your car. Launching the car and "speed shifting" should probably be avoided.

Shifting right under redline really isn't needed as the stock turbo isn't productive up there. Shift a bit earlier and the car will actually be quicker than if you redlined it.

This is the dude that is still learning his car Jd. I like that he's asking questions and not just out there douching it up, bouncing the carr off the rev limiter from stop light to stop light.

If you can hear your driveline when you are shifting through the gears, its not happy. It can take it but, its not gonna last long. You can drive an STI as fluidly as an automatic. Learn your shift points, stay out of the go pedal, down shift smoothly at mellow rpms...
By all means, test the car's limits. Play as you learn it. Take things slow though as these cars will make you feel and look like a hero until you find their limit, then you'll regret it.

I remember when I went to test drive my car, Peleg was egging me on to test the power and I never once went beyond 30% throttle. I already knew these cars were quick, I just wanted to make sure there weren't any odd noises or vibrations. The drive home was a whole lot of fun as I watched the gas gauge sink every time I rowed through the gears.

grambo is right, you should push your car to find its limits and capabilities within reason that is. you have to know where your power band is in order to find when you should or shouldn't shift, I have an 08 sti and I know when its best to shift, in first gear I may need to bring it up to 6k but after that my power band is between 3.5k and 6k. good luck and I hope ive helped
