Parts from a junkyard....
I was wondering, what are everyone's thoughts on getting needed parts from a local junkyard...?
I'm talking non-engine parts... like fog lights, maybe rims, mats, light covers...etc.
(At the risk of being laughed at).....Would I be totally ghetto doing this or shoudl I just order new from somewhere online...?

If you can find what you need & the $ is right, DO IT.
I get used parts when I can depending on what I'm building.
Finding newer cars or just the right part isn't always easy...
& things like starters & alternators may be on their last leg if they are old...
Trim & fasteners, glass, rims, various sheet metal, & other great things tend to be good finds at a local yard if they aren't too pricy.

Working at a a used car lot/ garage and dealing 95% in subaru's we have a junk yard w/ about 200+ subaru's. nothing you would be interested in, mostly loyales. but when we do get Legacys or Imp.'s people drive a ways for used parts. interior panels, lights, trim, hoods, wheels, pretty much everything. i would buy from a yard as long as they have a good rep. and you can find what you need. you'd be surprised what you can find in a junk yard sometimes. you just have to look for the treasure!

I've had good luck here:
www.subaruworld.com
I usually just call them and ask for what I need. I've gotten a few things there and found them pretty helpful.
