Unhappy Ordering wheel bearings-- HELP!

I'm ordering rear wheel bearings for my 98 impreza outback sport- (only one is grindin, but I might as well do both at once to prevent future regrets) I've read alot about the defectiveness of the Impreza bearings (they let dirt in), and many have suggested to order the Legacy bearings for the same year to prevent them from going out again. Car Quest says thay have the Impreza part as well as the Legacy part (Legacy about $20 cheaper), but they cant tell me if the Legacy bearing will fit on an Impreza PLEASE! Can anyone tell me which to order?- or just if the Legacy bearing is definitely a better design and will fit Imprezas? Please drop a line if you've dealt with this... it'd be much appreciated

Here is an e-mail I saved on the subject. Not my words just saved it:

The (original) part Number is 28016AA030 superceded by (legacy bearing) SCI541005. This is a duplex roller assembly and meets form, fit and function requirements. The bearing manufacturer's Part Number is: 46T0807050 and the manufacturer is Koyo, Japan. This was done with the endorsement of Subaru Canada.

For the bearing nuts' amongst us Koyo Bearings are located in Plymouth Michigan, Tel. (734) 454-1500 and SKF has a very technical website with lots of useful data.

Do you know if the bearings car quest carries are manufactured by Koyo, or are they generic?- If they are not Koyo, where could I order the Koyo bearings from (w/ no markup)?

And what is SKF? url?

I called the local Subaru dealership's parts dept, and they told me that the 28016AA030 is the current Legacy part # (they had never heard of the SCI541005), which will NOT fit Impreza's because of a different inner diameter. Instead, they said that Impreza part # 28016FC001, which superceded # 28016FC000, was the current Impreza part. They said they would order this part if I told them I needed a rear wheel bearing for a '98 impreza (outback or not). At $56.50 plus the price of the seals, I plan to get two of these and do both sides. Now the only trick is to get it to my buddy's shop an hour and a half away without damaging the hub... (cringe) ***thank the stars for AAA ...Once I'm within 50 mi (max tow range) I'll call em up and be like... Yeah, I was driving, and all of the sudden, this horrible sound started coming from my rear wheel- suckers
