Official US-spec STi VS Evo
K Ladies and gents i just got this in the mail today. For you folks that dont get Autoweek magazine they had the US-spec Evo and STi battle and compare, here is how it went.
EVO's stats:
price: $30,812
Powertrain: 2.0 liter, 271 hp, 273 lb-ft turbocharged
0 to 60 mph: 5.19 secs
0 to 1/4 mile: 14.01 secs @ 96.5mph
490 ft slalom: 48.1 mph
200 ft skidpad: .91 g
60 to 0 mph: 100ft
curb weight: 3263 lbs
Tranny: 5 speed manual
Hotties: go-kart handling, Radio, sunroof
STi's stats:
price: $31,000 (est)
powertrain: 2.5 liter, 300 hp, 300 lb-ft turbocharged
0 to 60 mph: 4.78 secs
0 to 1/4 mile: 13.36 secs @ 100.2 mph
490 ft slalom: 47.0 mph
200 ft skidpad: .88 g
60 to 0 mph: 114ft
curb weight: 3263 lbs
Tranny: 6 speed manual
Hotties: DCCD, (no radio but it is wired to have 1)
boost is set at 14.5 psi
Summary:
Although the STi may have more power in the straight line, the Evo had better handling. Around the track it isnt just how fast you can go straight but how fast you can enter and exit the corners. The Evo, although a lil slower in drag, can bet the STi stock around the track. Note though the Evo does get stickier tires than the STi does (in stock form). The STi has a Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) that adjusts torque from the stock 35 front/65 rear to as much as 50/50. The gearing in both cars are short but it still takes up to 5 gears to finish the 1/4 mile in the STi.
K thats some pretty good info i guess... I'l post some more summary when i read the article again.

So, where does the R32 come into the equation? I think it'll be little better than a FWD with as much power with the shabby 4motion awd it has. Still a nice car, but completely not in the same class as the STi and EVO.

i dont beleive for an instand that the evo 8 has better handeling. the evo 8 is ran by computers, and therefore computers must first recognise whats going on in order to react. subarus are almost purely mechanical compaired, watch any best motoring, and drivers will always complain about computers dull reactions
