ya i think its bests to practice somwhere with no traffic and open space, taking ur sweet time to get the feel of a stick, other t han that some people will never learn how to drive manual, i have sum friends.. they try to race, but i dont c the fun in racing in an automatic, hahaha also they are are stubborn, well not stubborn.. maybe... never have the profiencies of driving manual, some people are fast learner in playing video games, some people are just great at math, sum arent, i think stick is like that, those who really want to learn will usually learn and b successful

this is also my first MT, I had a freakin NEON auto for 4 years, then I made the jump to a turbo manual tranny, everyone sucks when they first try to drive MT, but like some of the other people were saying don't think about driving. Try if you can to listen to all the engine noise to get what it should sound like, it should sound nice and smoothe. when you THINK you are getting better make sure to drive with the STEREO really loud so you can't hear your REV's, this is a good way to ween yourself off relying on the engine to tell you how to SHIFT which is how i learned to drive MT at first. Make sure you do a lot of sudden stops in the Learning phase, don't only do thing like starting out in first, the Reverse in the WRX can be tricky make sure that sucker is in gear when you want to go backwards in a hurry. after two months I still bog the launch sometimes. After a while you will begin to notice that as soon as you do get the engagement of the clutch you can really let the clutch release out fast the rest of the way, remember there is a certain window for the clutch engagement, the whole big PEDAL up and down can be a little misleading at first. I hope that made sense. well trust me in a few months you will love you new Transmission, just as much as you already love your WRX.
