The new "Saabaru"
ok... we know the 9-2 is based on the WRX but edmunds.com reports the saab 9-2 will be featuring two different engines. Is it just the chassis that is based on the wrx (the concept art doesn't really indicate this) or is it the engine or both?
Edmunds says the 9-2 will have a 4cyl 2.5L N/A engine - will this be the same platform as the 2.5RS? It ALSO mentions a 300+hp turbocharged 2.0L 4cyl... what gives? Is the 300hp variant going to be based off of the J-spec turbo Sti engines, is saab pumping up the American WRX, or is this a totally new beast?

I just saw an article in the new Car & Driver talking about it. Stating the chasis will be the same but they will be using their own engine, instead of the boxer engines. Hopefully this is true.
