new buyer

i'm looking to buy an Impreza. what is the best way to go for performance? for example, the RS is a 2.5, if a turbocharger was added aftermarket, would it make up for the SOHC and be more powerful than the WRX 2.0?
what are the advantages of the WRX over the RS?
what year is the best for performance? (i like the look of the 04-05 best but i want performanace first).

I would get an 04 or 05 wrx. The wrx has more performance potential and reliabilty, than a turboed 2.5 rs. If you really want the added displacement you can get a stroker kit for the wrx ( I highly suggest it I have an 05 sti the displacement really helps).

The biggest advantage of the wrx over the rs of the same year is the reliabilty.

The good RS to get is the 98-01 rs, because the chassis is smaller and gives more feed back to the driver. The hot set up for this car is too do a swap and put an 04-05 sti tranny and engine. In this form the car is unstopable "it will dominate all".

I wish I would have taken the time to do this, but on the same hand I love my sti. It freaking rocks and sound good.
