Need opinions.... (which of these JDM Subarus would you buy?)

Moving back to Japan in 2 weeks.

Looking to stay Subaru.

Choice #1: 1999 Legacy RSK
GONE
But there is one on the base I am being stationed at for around the same price. No details other than "There's been alot done to it"

Choice #2: 1996 Version III STi
84,000 kilometers for $4,0000 (with accident history, but not sure how bad until I get there)

Leaning towards the Legacy. Would like to see what a twin Turbo EJ20 feels like.
Even if I can't get these specific cars, there is a decent amount available in the same price range for the Legacy, the STi...is a little harder to find (even with higher mileage) for the same price.

Looking for opinions. Either car will of course rock. Price is right, and I'll be happy with either....but what would you go with and why?

I would go with the Legacy just based on it's clean history. How many km can a car in Japan have before you have to replace the engine? Isn't that the emission law or something? What about going with an STI wagon?

not really interested if I can get something else cheaper.
and so far, the S14 is in the lead (even though the S14 above is not my favorite year)

I like the earlier face better.
