Need Help?! Check Engine light came on?

Hey guys, I just got home from the gym about 5min ago and I was drivin on highway 580, at a steady speed of 70mph. And About 5min or so from when I merged on the freeway The Check Engine Light turned on, AND the Cruise Control Light started blinking as well! I didn't touch the cruise control. SO im here just asking for any opinions on what you guys may think the problem is. As for the check engine light im thinking maybe the cel fix went out on the dp? I dunno. I cant get the cruise control light to stop blinkin either Help please. Thanks guys

By the way, I still have warranty on the car, but will my mods affect the warranty, if I go get it check out at the dealership?

My mods are: helix turboback & cobb ap set to stage 2; both mods have been on car for about 3 months with no problems

Thanks again

Yeah the mods you are running will void yoru warranty. thats why i went with SPT everything.

Also if you ever plugged a AP into yoru car your warranty is done. even if it was a piggyback they will still find it. the best way i can describe it is it left a "cookie" behind.

hopefully you have yoru stock parts. slap those on and see if you can find someone to get your comp to OE specs.

And if that doesnt work and you bought extra warranty go sell that **** back to them. get what you can out of it and then take it in.

Don't bother using the AP to read the code. Although it may give a result, the AP is NOT an OBDII device and does not always report codes accurately. To be sure you get the right information, get it scanned with an OBDII reader.
Autozone does free scans unless you are in CA, there I think you can borrow the scanner for a deposit and scan it yourself.
Either way get the Pxxxx code and search the forums for it, you should get all the info you need.
FYI when a code sets in the newer cars with drive-by-wire, the cruise control is automatically disabled and the cruise light flashes while the CEL is lit. It does not mean there is any problem with the cruise control. Once the code is cleared, both lights will go out.

read the code using my ap with green test connectors in and read about 5 codes(p0502 p0503 p1152 p1153 p0851 p1518)..I freaked out for a minute but then a member on Nasioc said those codes are typically thrown by Subarus when the green test mode connectors are in, and I shouldnt worry about it. So i unplugged em and read the code P0442 which is small leak detected...which was probably set off by the dumb gas cap...just finished reseting the ecu and problem solved..took less than 2minutes and now I dont have to see the dumb CEL and CC flashing..thanks for the help guys

P0442 is not a typical code for a loose gas cap, that will usually set a code for a large leak. You may get lucky if the cap was slightly loose, but then again the code may come back. If it does there is a problem with the evaporative emissions system, and those can be difficult to troubleshoot so just let the dealer take care of it.

Its going to take more than 2 minutes. I forgot how long it takes for the ecu to cycle to throw another code. But I had this before... You might be lucky and it was just the gas cap if not there are other places you can look.

Good luck us keep us updated.

Dealers aren't always the best place to go.

Last weekend I put a turboback exhaust on my 05 sti and twice it has cut out under acceleration and a CEL and blinking cruise control light came on. No mods to ECU and am using a restricter on the oxy sensor. Once I shut engine off and played with cruise control the light went out. Going by shop that sold me the exhaust and try to get help. Love the new sound and power but the motor cut out under acceleration is slightly violent and unnerving. Put gas in this morning and light stayed on so don't think it is the gas cap. New to forums but appreciate any help.
