What are their reasons? Is it because they can't drive (or don't like to drive) stick and you'll be sharing the car with them, or are they afraid a manual tranmission will automatically induct you into the Friday night street races?
There are a lot of reasons to get a manual - not only do you have $1000, but being able to drive stick means that if you're someday stuck with a manual car in the mountains (or something), you'll be able to get home.
The automatic certainly isn't bad, but don't expect the low end of the 0-60 or 1/4 numbers you see magazines and folks on this board touting. I've heard that getting a good torque/brake launch is a lot harder on the car than a regular slip with a manual too, but I have no first-hand experience with that.
Good luck!

my parents have the right to say "no stick" because they are the ones paying for it. My parents asked their friends who ownes this private dealership...the friend said stick is harder to sell and i wont be able to get much for it when Im selling my car later. Can anyone prove this wrong? or is it true?

Though I have no proof, that is utter bull****. The WRX is appealing because of its speed. Manuals are faster than Autos. The vast majority of buyers will buy a manual WRX for that reason alone.
Some benefits of a manual transmisson you might want to bring up with them:
- Lower cost
- Better gas mileage(uhhh... unless youre revving to 6k each gear all the time)
-Potentially useful skill if you move to another country or become a truck driver, hah

One of the worst things said about Subaru on a relativley constant basis is its Automatic xmission is poor. I have a Automatic Legacy and ive yet to figure out why it shifts like it does. One minute you dump it and it takes off the next minute it looks at you funny, considers its options then takes off. Ive also had the cruise control set at 70 and it geared down 2 gears to get up a small hill. Now I didn't get the Legacy because I wanted high performance, my wife wanted Auto, she got auto. She is happy and I dont drive the car all the time so who cares.
Some people will say otherwise but ive heard pleanty of things saying the Auto tranny isnt that great, not that terrible , but not that great.

I would respectfully pass on your parents offer. Tell them that you really want a stick, and you will purchase a WRX with a 5spd as soon as you have saved up $24,000.00.
Maybe you should just be happy that you are getting a new car. Not sure how old you are, but I would guess that you are under 18. Maybe when you move out you can get a 5spd.

one more argument for ya. tell them about the $80 tramsmission flush you need to get every year. i think the book says 30k miles, but every year is what they really need. then again, if its your first 5spd. plan on a clutch pack, and getting the flywheel turned in 60-75k miles. i do agree w/ WRXSTIle though, that the autos are not as reliable. the AWD solenoid usually goes by 100k if you drive in slippery conditions a lot, and sometime just for no apparent reason.

Spoiled
There is little doubt that driving a stick car is more fun than an automatic. It's more economical, gets you started when an auto can't and gives you a better feel for actually driving a car rather than just going along for the ride and requires more skill. Stick is sometimes harder to sell because most people think you've beaten on it but the real bottom line is it sounds like you're another spoiled kid whose throwing a tantrum because his parents (who if you're under 18 are simply proving that they're just not too bright by getting you this for your first car) won't get their little sweety what he wants.
