a couple weeks ago we had a douwnpour for about 3 or 4 hours, it just happend to be ending as I was getting out of work. Not 50 feet from my work there is a drain ditch going across the road that was all flooded out. I attempted to go through this thinking it was only like 1 foot deep. I stall in the middle where is was like 2-21/2 feet deep and my stereo went out(Amp was under the seat
) . I look down and there was water in the car. After about 15 seconds or less I got it started and drove out. Withing the next 2 days I tore out the rug and all the seats so I can get all the water out. But it still stinks like mold in there. I tried spraying that febreeze stuff in there but it just stank like febreeze for a couple days and now it smells like mold again. Any tip to get this stench out?

Ummm Air Spencer? No that's the rice way out hehe
But seriously, do you know where the source of the smell is? The carpeting? Depending on the source you will probably have to take different actions. If you're still under warranty, you can try bellyaching at your dealer
Good luck!

I am pretty sure its the carpet since it was soaked. In order for them to steam clean do i need to take the carpet out of the car though? and where would I go for this?
The dealer in out of the question, last time I have a broken window I took it there to get replaced and they charged me for cleaning the glass out. I still find glass under my seat an in my door all the time though.. They did clean all the change outta the ashtray though

Personally, I'd keep spraying that Febreeze stuff under the carpet every day letting it air out really well. IMO, since it's alcohol it should help in drying out any existing mold. You definately, don't want any mold to grow and spread...

go out and get some of that new age cat litter. all it is is silica gel which is the same stuff thats in those little packets that come in electronics. it's used for absorbing moisture. Fill a shallow plasic container (one that would get you lots of surface area) with the stuff and put in the car to absorb moisture. As for the smell pull up the carpet and sound abosorbing material and wipe down the hard surfaces with a mild bleach/water mixture (like 1oz of bleach to 1 gal of water). While you have the carpet out hang it up and spray down both sides with some carpet cleaner. scrub, let dry and then vacuum. reinstall carpet and then put your silica tray in there for a few days.
