Hmm, there's an NASIOC user that had this crazy self-modified 400+ hp rex, and somebody took a video of him climbing some huge sand dunes. Funny seeing a car amongst a sea of sand buggies and ATVs

I think it was stock. And the video is like 3 years old now.

Quads do it fine with much less filtration. The wrx even has a serious amount of tubing the sand would have to get through befor it could make its way into the engine. I think it would be safe to say the logn term damage was probably only on cv boots, brakes, and other friction items that were easily exposed to massive amounts of sand. Engine internals probably went unharmed.

But the video is downloading so I guess I could watch it and go ok nevermind but I doubt it.

I have taken my car in the sand and had it so hard that sand was inside the cabin somehow. The next day I fealt that I should replace the filter but upon inspection I did not find a single grain of sand trapped in the filter. The numerous 90degree turns the air has to make helps too. I since then have removed the silencer though, don't know what that will do but probably won't help. I honestly think that the dry, sandy, dusty, SoCal air is worse for tit than anything else.

That's his car from a while ago, but it's gone through some monsterous transformations lately...
