Thumbs up Living Easy w/ Sti!

Hi guys,
I keep seeing people complaining that the ride on the sti is too harsh w/ or w/o upgrades and the easiest solution to this problem is to simply put on a set of 50 series tires for day to day use (be honest how many of you go to limit of adhesion everyday) and then either remount for track days or buy a second set of rims for the race tires. This solution is the absolute best way to civilize the sti. It quiets the road noise a ton and softens the road to almost dare I say comfortable. It still outhandles just about anything out there but does it with less kidney bashing. As a bonus it fills the wheel wells all the way up so it even looks a lot cooler. just fyi!

i have got 225 17 50's and there is no rubbing at all. my tires at the moment are nitto's but they suck in the rain. but the difference is amazing for noise reduction. My rims a Z02's enkies and the offset is a little different than stock so under real hard cornering there is an ever so slight rub on the fender lip (rear) but I will be doing a little bending there and then no problems

hey vlad,
lowering the side wall ratio can only make the ride louder and harsher plus the htreshhold of grip will be absolutely abrupt. the larger sidewall allows for just a little more flex (ie slide...safety) for the street. for the track the only way to go is with the more aggressive tires but for day to day go with comfort and save the harshness for the track.

probably about equal vs. the 17" Re-070 because the Eagle F1 GS-D3 is supposedly a very nice riding tire for performance rubber... unlike the RE070 which is unacceptably harsh on a lot of roads...
