Unhappy Lemon

i got an o4 wrx and recently started coming across problems that are making me sad.

for the first 7g miles the car was perfect, everything i could hope for. this last thousand my CEL light has been constantly coming on. I had to take my car back to the dealership about 3 times already.

I was wondering if anyone has been having troubles similiar to this. It is a misfire in cylinder 1. Even SOA is curious to see whats up cuz they said it never happened before like this.

Am i the lucky one in a million owner of a wrx to get a lemon?
what makes a car a lemon anyway?
at first i didn't think it would be this bad, but my gf and mother are saying that this is close to lemonville.

Wow, I remember you posting a while ago that your CEL light came on, and your car was stock.

I hope that the problem with the CEL light get resolved.

In most states, it has to do with the inability to be repaired properly, or the total cost of the repairs needed relative to the value of the car.

Demand a new car or your money back. If the dealer doesn't do it. Tell them they will then have to meet you in court and then pick up the cost of your lawyer & the car and waste more time.

Lemon laws vary by state. If I were you, I'd check into your state's specifics. Some states require a problem to occur to the same part 3 times before being considered officially a lemon.

Try a search for "lemon" or "lemons" at http://forums.vwvortex.com/ as a lot of members have complained about their cars being lemons.

Before making demands, not that there is anything wrong with that, read your state's lemon law. Talk with the dealer with a cool head and explain to them that they have had lots of chances to fix the car, etc... That you are looking into lemoning your car as per your state's lemon law. Ask to see the SOA regional rep. Talk to the rep, explain the situation. If his or her reaction is negative, then file for the lemon law ASAP. Don't put mileage on your car, certain states don't allow you to file even if you are are a few miles over. If his or her reacation is positive, ask them to replace your car. Work out a date, you are their customer.

Also keep these tips in mind:

1)Document everything
2)Record conversations if you have to. Let them know you are going to record, you have to by law.
3)Get anything and everything your dealer or the SOA rep says in writing
4)Always have copies of all the work done by the dealer

I just settled out of court for something similar. Not to worry it wasn't subaru.

Good luck

too high of an octance such as 104 can kill ur 02 sensors causing a check engine light, or u didnt tighten ur gas cap.

Does just your cel light come on or does your car run like crap? In other words is there anything wrong with the motor?

at first i thought it was the gas cap, but that was when it first came on a few weeks ago, which wasn't the problem in the first place.

the first time it turned out to be a broken spark plug.
oh yah, and i never used high octane gas, just the premium stuff.

i got it back today and was told that it might be the ecu that needs to be replaced. they also flushed the system out. i was also told that the car wasn't running smoothly, but they made better. that might be why i never thought it was running rough since it pretty much ran the same as when i first got it. it made a pretty noticable difference. for right now the car is running like a champ compared to before.

the CEL light error says it is always a misfire in cylinder 1, just to clarify it wasnt the gas cap.

i hope this all ends on a happy note.
