Just a thought...(will EVO RS spur STi type RA in U.S.?)

If I'm not mistaken the spec-C was not only stripped down and suped up to 300hp (this was back when the STi was still at 270 something) but it's wheel base was extended 15mm in the front which virtually eliminated any and all understeer into corners.

It seems to me the best marketing move that Mitsubishi could do is bring out some kinda equivalent to the WRX. Subaru did an awesome set of Impreza's making the 2.5 RS, the WRX, and STi. If you wanna get a Mitsu then you have to settle for a underpowered 2WD Lancer, or pay double to get the EVO. If they made something that was comparable to the WRX seems they would find a lot more success. So I find it kinda of strange they would pump out the RS. Subaru will still kick butt in sales b/c they offer the best selection and the Impreza's rock! Of course I'm a bit biased.

Well, they are bringing the RS, but its not going to appeal to the same customer base that the WRX does. Yes, its in a similar price range, but for a far different consumer. The RS is going to be a track beater, plain and simple. It out-performs the WRX by leaps and bounds, but is definatly not going to be nearly as comfortable around town. By the time you add the "Urban Jungle" package and a rear wing you may as well have gotten the regular EVO as it will be coming with leather wrapped Recaros and what not and their respective costs will be nearly the same. The RS is Mitsu's attempt to one up Subaru once again by telling everyone that they can bring a stripped track ready vehicle will Subaru is afriad to.

If you do some research on the various Subaru forums, you'll find out that our (USDM) STi is very similar to a Spec C (but with a 2.5 litre engine). We have the longer wheelbase with improved geometry, and aparently the lighter body panels/glass (to keep the USDM STi weight in check) amongst other things.

Thanks to numerous weight-saving measures, the Lancer Evolution RS tips the scales nearly 150 pounds lighter than the Lancer Evolution. Its featherweight status notwithstanding, the RS has also been blessed with quicker reflexes: a front helical-type limited slip differential and a rear crossbar help to improve the handling of one of the world's best-handling automobiles.
it's not THAT much lighter, but i guess it does make a difference.
