Just a thought...

Well we're all aware of the pissing match that Subaru and Mitsu have been in for quite some time. Now, with the addition of the EVO RS to the US market do you guys think that we can expect to see an STi type RA? It would be the logical progression in my mind, but I would love to see it come to fruitation.

The Evo RS is basically a joke for a stripped Evo. You get the car for less than a normal Evo without any power options, yet the power options are available dealer installed????? How does this gain anything?Plus the dealer is going to rape you with installation and the added cost. For no more weight than what you're saving you would almost be just as well off to install a set of off-road bumper beams to the STi and you would have a close match it seems. But for now I guess we'll just have to wait and see whatFHI has in store for the STi

evo was cheap to begin with but damn... The RS looks like a cheap POS now. Faster maybe. But I dont want to sacrifice quality for speed in the first place.

I dont want to see an sti stripped down.

Just think....you pull up beside what appears to be a Lancer and it takes off from the line, first guess in most places will be a Lancer on gas Lucky for us the WRX and RS are the next step down from the STi and The EVO is going to go from "ghetto" (urban jungle package ) down to the EVO and Lancer:P

You're into the wrong cars buddy. LOL... go check out a Esclade or something.

If the RS comes, the RA will come to. Hell, maybe even a Spec- C!

i sure hope to hell you're right. i'd love to see the higher spec Subies here.

as for the EVO RS being a stripped down POS car, if thats you're take, go buy a luxury car. the RS has a front limited slip, weights a couple of hundred pounds less, and with the 'urban jungle' package, is a seriously practical road weapon.

I'd love to see the WRX type C here. BMI has tested it and it was a great car. In fact, the fastest on the course.Escalade's?? We don't believe in those here. They're just too expensive and worthless just like the H2 is. Even with the contest between the 2 cars that have and has been in the past, we know the EVO is pretty much a self-driver where the Subie is a car to be driven. It all depends on what a person wants.....I know that I would rather keep with the Subaru since that just what I'm used to playing with. I'm familiar with the Mits AWD as well and I can use and control the Subaru alot better.I guess we just have to wait through the racing season to see which is doing better and where at.

No prob! I'm just not a big fan of the Escalade,Navigator,or H2. They are useless for what you spend on them and at the price range you can get a good deal on a used Hummer that would still outlast the others 3 to 1 and still have more room. I just don't see taking another base car and upgradig it with a logo or a headlight/tailliight conversion and raising the price to ridiculous levels ie. Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infinity, Chevy/GMC/Caddy/Pontiac, Ford/Mazda, etc... Of course some manufacturers go from one extreme to the next of what they leave as interchangeable. Back to the SUV thing.....if I have it I want the function of being able to USE it there not just be a pavement pounder like most of the above mentioned are used as.

I kinda have to agree with you somewhat ..... Yes the interior of the EVO looks cheap and isn't color co-ordinated. Not having Cruise control really sucks, especially if you use it as a daily driver and are on the highways alot. Again a lot of this depends on the drivers needs and subjective feeling to the car. The EVO RS only loses a little above 100lbs (its in sports compact car), easily achiveable with the regular EVO 8. Yeah you get front limited slip but you lose ABS, personally I would rather have AYC & ACD and ABS to boot =). Plus when tested on lap times it barely did any better than the regular EVO (SCC). Thats why I think the STi is great for the money, DCCD and limited slip all around + you get ABS =) I just can't get over how ugly it is (yuck).... again subjective feeling. I guess features don't cure UGLY. My point is, if I'm spending that much money in on a new car. I want a decent interior (not super luxurious) what a standard WRX has, I want AC (for gods sake....... its my daily driver), cruise control for the highways and still be able to able to take it to the tracks and whip the **** out of the guy sweating in the EVO RS =)
I guess the RS is for true enthusiasts but most of us want more than what it has to offer. It doesn't hurt that there is/will be more variety avaible to the consumers but selling large volumes is what makes money for the car manufacturers. I know they are only making 600 ...... so time will tell. Unfortunately I think it is a stupid move... if they want to sell more EVOs they outta make the EVOs a little more "luxurious" .... color co-ordinate the damn interior, put better peddles and for god sake put cruise control. I know I would buy one .... looks better on the outside than a WRX to me anyways .... sorry for the RANT!

yea its confusing.

in GC8
typeRA was the competition ready WRX STi sedan.
typeR was a coupe version of typeRA
They had WRX typeRA, WRX STi typeRA, WRX typeR and WRX STi typeR

in GDB
first WRX STi typeRA was introduced ... but it wasn't fast enough, got spanked by EVO7. Its got discontinued really quick. It must be rare model.
then after a little bit of absence of typeRA in the line up,
WRX STi typeRA spec-C was introduced with no front subframe, water tank in the trunk, VF34 etc... It kicked EVOs ***.
then from GDB-C, the name is simply WRX STi spec-C

spec-C is real hardcore. I doubt it makes it to here.
Because of the thinner sheet metal thats used, the warranty is shorter and it warns in the brochure that the body might deform.
also windows are thinner, no passenger sunvisor no carpet in trunk, no power door locks, no power features at all
smaller fuel tank too
it is really stripped

Have you all seen the numbers for the new neon SRT-4. There taking 400 lbs off the thing. Though it still wont handle like an STI or EVO. 400lbs less is gonna make it a fast SOB.
