Well I am happy to report that I just rolled 70k on my 02 WRX and have had no major problems with it yet

I agree. Ever since I got this thing and my friends are like "you want me to drive" I always say no....They never get to drive anymore. Prolly why I got 70k on her.
Driving is so much fun, I actually moved farther away from my job when I bought a house so I could drive more! LOL (or I should say that the drive never factored into the equation when looking for a place.)

My 02 has got 123,000 miles on it.
getting to replace the front right wheel bearings this week, a couple weeks ago it was Left front bearings and hub.
I'm on my second clutch too, and I replaced the rear diff a while back, not that it really needed it, but it was getting noisy.
I'm starting to think that about 100,000 these start to become a little less cheap to keep on the road, but I still owe too much to let it go quite yet.
Eventually it'll probably get caged and turned into a real rally car.
Although I have to say- if we get an XT version of the OBS next year, I might just have to get one of those.

On one hand yes, treated gently and well taken care of, a car should last a lot more than 100,000 miles, but when you get right down to it, there is a reason that factory warrenties only last 30-40 thou typically and only a few extend out to 100,000, and it is simply that parts do start to wear out at about that point, in fact they are engineered to meet a minimum service life to keep costs in line.
Mine is certainly a special case, there aren't many stock WRX's that have driven the Rim of the World rally route 3 times in 2 months. There is only one WRX wagon in the world which has done both the Alcan 5000 summer rally and the Alcan Winter Rally, and I'm trying to keep that example alive as long as I can afford to.
So yeah 100,000 isn't a lot in the grand scheme, but the 100,000 miles my car has seen was probably more punishing than what most cars would see in 300,000
