As much as I love my '02 WRX, the passenger seat kills my wife's back (scoliosis) and she swears that she gets to pick out the next car. Do other Suby's have the same type bucket seats, or more conventional ones? Her present car is a '97 Honda Accord (stop laughing) and she loves the driver's seat. It hits me just wrong, so for long trips we have to make frequent stops for her to unwind if we're in the Suby, and same for me to unkink my legs if we use the Honda.

I just got the new GT limited. I ordered the short throw shifter and momo ****. I found that the center arm rest extension really helps with the manual. I test drove the WRX, really wanted the STI, but have a 16 year old son. No way could I have one of those in my garage. When I finally test drove the GT limited I realized it was the perfect solution. The best part is my wife really has no clue as to how much of a performance car this is. I won't let her drive it so she'll never know. It didn't take long for my son to figure it out so every now and then I let him have it. There's no comparison to his one year old 9-3 (which I looked at until I test drove the GT).
One note: consider new tires as soon as you've got your money's worth out of the RE92's. I bought Pirelli zero nero M+S after only 1200 miles. RE92's shouldn't be on this car. I didn't even wait til I got my money's worth.
Overall: car is best combination of comfort and performance for the money that is on the market. I've either test driven or owned everything that might be considered as an alternative (BMW, SAAB, Audi, Volvo, Mercedes, etc.). As someone else said, don't test drive it unless you're ready to buy.

The only thing I really don't like about Subaru is the RE92s. I believe that the RE92s I got with my MY2000RS were V rated and would have cost a fortune to replace. I replaced those with cheaper (and better, IMHO) W rated RE750s and felt a noticable difference.
